Posso confermare (da pugliese) che avendo vissuto in un paese anglofono, quando parlavo in inglese normalmente mi dicevano "oh your English is quite good" Ma quando forzavo la cadenza pugliese in alcune parole in inglese spesso mi dicevano "your English is great!"

Ciao Joe ti seguo da una settimana e proprio oggi ho visto un tuo video che si intitola Come migliorare lo speaking in Inglese da solo e nel video hai messo un o sciogli lingua Red Lorry Yellow Lorry lo continuavo a ripetere per 1 ora e la R moscia mi sta scomparendo piano piano, quindi ti vorrei ringraziare infinitamente per i tuoi video che mi sono molto utili e scusa ancora se non ho messo le virgole😂

In Roman slang you must say “Me co*oni” in this case or “sto ca**o”. E sti ca**i means “I don’t care”

"Really" lo sapevo e su "even" ci ho azzeccato subito perche' ho immediatamente ricordato il tuo video short sui diversi modi di tradurre "anche". @@JoEnglish Una domanda che credo riguardi moltissimi. Chiaramente la tua cadenza e i vocaboli che usi li adatti per un Audience di personeche stanno imparando, MA ho notato che esiste un altro inglese, oltre quello che tu chiami, l'inglese parlato che non è insegnato. Esiste l'inglese dei Film "di concetto", avvocati,medici,politici,professori,scienziati,ingegneri o di ted talk che è molto simile a quello che tu usi, con gli stessi vocaboli e che si riesce a capire oltre il 90% e poi esiste l'inglese delle interviste americane, dei film polizieschi americani, della gente di strada che non usano slag ma vocaboli e phrasal verb mai sentiti prima ne da te ne da altri e ti senti un idiota perchè capisci si e no il contesto. Se sei d'accordo, ci potresti fare un video ? Se vuoi ti do esempi anche su you tube

When translating “addirittura” when used on its own, there’s either an element of genuine disbelief (and then “no way!” works well), but there could also be an element of sarcasm, In that case I think a good translation could be: “you don’t say..” as in “ah, non mi dire..”

even to put the right emphasis on everyday life routine events one has to be careful not to overdo it. otherwise it’s so easy to run out of useful expressions when we really need them, if one keeps using them ironically out of context.

In case of exclamation, "really" is more like "davvero" rather than "addirittura", I'd use "are you kidding? " instead.

Una cosa che noto e che non avevo mai notato prima è l'intonazione, l'enfasi che usi nelle varie frasi e che rendono benissimo l'idea. Forse più della parola stessa. Come ti hanno già detto in tanti a scuola certe sottigliezze, fondamentali, non te le insegna nessuno... Grazie 👍

Finalmente qualcuno si occupa di questo termine, che ho sempre trovato molto difficile da rendere in inglese. Le due traduzioni non sono scorrette, anche se Italians use 'addirittura!' only when they want to imply that the occurred event is an exaggeration of something that would be understandable and unsurprising in its more limited form. Esempio in cui si usa: A: John ha messo sei cucchiaini di zucchero nel caffè! B: Addirittura sei! (6 spoons of sugar is a lot of sugar, but it's common to put sugar in the coffee) Esempio in cui non si usa: A: I Marziani sono scesi sulla terra! B: Veramente!? (You wouldn't use 'addirittura' as there's no variant of such fact that would be considered predictable or expectable). I hope this makes sense!

BTW, I find "addirittura" a difficult word to use naturally in Italian as it's such a mouthful. 5 syllables to express exclaim is quite a lot! I guess I just need to practice.
