Another great episode! I love that these are all conversations rather than just "interviews". It's so much more intimate and genuine. Can't help but smile along as you share thoughts, ideas, and stories, and it shows through the camera that both parties are engaged and invested in the conversation. Love it.

I really like Mr. Hernandez's comment about making the comic that the author wants to make. Never mind making it like what is popular. Just make it your own. I like that. WE all get bogged down by life that delays our own books. What is important is we move the book forward. No matter what. Cheers!

Loved listening to your conversation. All of the advice was inspiring and I especially enjoyed the part when you both discussed your relationship with your readers. There was all positivity and good feelings throughout the conversation. We need more of this vibe in the world. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and personalities with us....wishing you both all the best.

In January, I finally self published 4 books I being working the last 20 years. Books that started with a silly story to help my daughter to fall asleep. By that time, was hard to find books in Spanish, so I make mock ups of them for my little girl. Keep changing the design, the style, until they were ready to be out there. 20/25 years in 2 lines here LOL Created the characters, designed the covers, created my brand logo, wrote the stories, try to be original on all of it. My stories are for free on my website.

Yep, I started having the seed of an idea last Summer, sat down, wrote out a bunch of notes and thoughts, and that coalesced into a pretty solid spine for an idea. I am now doing a rewrite for the first finished episode and this Summer I hope to have illustrated, or it least penciled out the panels for that whole episode. It has taken a while, especially given the fact I have a full time job. But I have been glad for the fact that I can take my time with this and really perfect things. I do not need to rush. That said, I feel like I am approaching a point where the rubber needs to meet the road and I have to produce something I can present to the world. Just doing a few lines of writing here and there, on a semi regular basis, is important to keeping the momentum going.

@@SiyaOum I was a doing a ton of research too, which was necessary given the world I'm building. But that can become overwhelming and also a form of procrastination. I realized I didn't need to figure every tiny detail out to start writing, or become an expert in various subjects before putting pen to paper. I'm also lucky that I can do it all. I have been a professional animator for a long time, and my draughtmanship skills are pretty good. Inking however, is going to be a learning curve, although my early experiments are looking OK. And of course, doing it all means it's going to take 4 times longer. I am prepared for that. Being able to do it all (in theory) was a very attractive prospect for me, given that I have been working in teams of people for nearly 3 decades now . In the age of the internet and cheap digital tools, comics, I realized, is a very accessible medium for visual story telling. And because film appears to be heading into a difficult time period, I wanted to try something different. Not to mention I grew up enjoying comics immensely. This shift to a more independent comics industry we seem to be heading toward also resonated. I think the future success of art is going to be driven by independent creators.

Such an amazing episode! Against some of the strangeness of the industry or industries recently named the gaming world with layoffs and studio shutdowns..I’ll be honest something about watching this video-even though it’s comic book realm of things- felt very hopeful and exciting to watch. Felt like a reminder why you get into art in the first place, and the fun it can bring both personally and professionally. I think I use that analogy too cause I love these more laid back conversations, reminds me of some concept art podcasts I’ve listened to where they just have a fun dialogue with each other. Reminds me of how close nit (I think that’s the right word?) the art community is.

Thank you so much for commenting on this "strangeness". It's undeniable the many challenges, changes, and negative light that is being cast on our professional, be it, video games, comics, and film. Change is something we've adapted to in the past, so it's fun to take a different view on it, and do the best we can to stay on the path of passion, purpose, and positivity. My best to you, and thanks for hanging out with us, virtually!

@@SiyaOum My pleasure Siya, and thanks you! As someone trying to get into these industries, I always found interesting hearing the ins and outs, and unfortunately the more uncertainty of things (like in gaming with studio closures, projects cancelling). It definitely is so fun to see and hear the different view on it, and despite the changes still see the mask d positivity across the community at large. Be it games, comics etc. Everyone’s looking out for each other which I think is so heartwarming. My best to you too! Looking forward to more videos!
