The two homeless men are Mortimer and Randolph Duke, the two main adversaries of the film Trading Places, which also starred Eddie Murphy, alongside Dan Ackroyd. In that film, the Dukes perform an experiment on a gentleman’s bet between themselves: see if taking poor destitute Murphy and their star employee Ackroyd and switch them financially and socially, and see if their environment changes them or if it is their nature to be what they are. All this to a backdrop of commodities trading.

Eddie and Arsenio played alot of characters here that actually set the stage and pioneered on Eddies future movies like Norbit and Dr.Dolittle

"Mortimer and randolph, they need their own movie" They HAVE their own movie! But I am sure the title has already been pointed 200 times or so at the time of writing.

You guys kind of talked over it, but the opening credits music is the song "Mbube", by South African Zulu artist (and at the time a cleaner and record packer) Solomon Linda - it was one of the first major songs from Africa to be a huge hit: the title we know it by is either "Wimoweh" or "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". The group performing this version is the multiple awards-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and as it uses the style that was founded by this melody it's closer to the original song than any of the American variants.

Mortimer and Randolph do have their own movie it was called trading place and came out a year before this one... It stars these 2 who were huge rich bank executives and Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy who were broke af got in and took over Mortimer and Randolph's lives leaving them homeless on the streets of NYC that scene was a complete easter egg....

The worst thing about getting older and watching film reactions by much younger people is realizing how many actors from "back in the day" that you just assume everybody knows... whole generations don't know. Props to Eriq La Salle, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Don Ameche, and Louie Anderson.

8:25 I sometimes forget that younger people didn't grow up seeing Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live every week, playing a lot of different characters (including James Brown), so that is why it's easier for you to miss when when he and Arsenio are made up like other characters. But the end credits will tell you, and I'm guessing now it's going to be a surprise.

Simply put, if you enjoyed "Coming To America" (Eddie Murphy's top movie), then you must react to an EQUALLY enjoyable buddy movie starring both Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence in a movie called "LIFE". Just like this movie, 'LIFE' has all the ingredients like (great plot, outstanding make-up, smart, funny, and even touching at times). "LIFE" also has appearances by Bernie Mac, Rick James, and others. You'll certainly be glad you reacted to it. Good job guys. 👍🏾

The Mortimer and Randolph bit is a throwback from a movie Eddie did with Dan Aykroyd. Called Trading Places, from 1983.
