Lol yeah its easy to do that too. IMO i think 3 hit is a kind of slow for todays day and age, I do think you really want to be in the 2 hit category when possible, and in the late game scale up to 1 shot kills. I think forgotten ancient is great here, but I also just need to get a blackblade reforged in the deck. I dont know the spell based +1/+1 counters card pool very well, but one or 2 of those that can drop a bunch of power on there are gonna be solid also i think. All things to work on. I do think its a really cool commander, and I'd like to play him again.

@@CommanderReplay Yeah, I agree with the number of hits. Indominus' resilience and Vigilance/Lifelink give you extra time to get people dead, but you're totally right. Your group plays at a higher level than mine as well, so that's a big factor. (e.g. fast mana) I do run an old, bad card that makes it two hits - Ana Sanctuary. Haha. 😂😂 Killing someone is made even better when it's a niche/bad card that kills them, IMO.

Ah very cool. Yeah the next step would be optimizing for the best creatures who serve both purposes well. Yeah its a sweet deck, id like to play more of it.

As far as I can tell the interaction still works as intended. The discard action is replaced with a special discard action that put its on top of the library. Im happy to look at any rulings you find that say otherwise though, since its a real uncommon interaction. Thanks!

@CommanderReplay Under C.R. 701.8c, if "a card is discarded, but an effect causes it to be put into a hidden zone", such as the library (C.R. 400.2), "instead of into its owner’s graveyard without being revealed", the card discarded this way will have undefined characteristics and the discard won't count as discarding a card with particular characteristics. So you can put the cards on top for sure, but there won't be any visible characteris for Indominus Rex to see so no counters. They move from a hidden zone to a hidden zone, so there's no instance characteristics can he checked

​@@literNL The cards get revealed since the trigger specifies only creature cards can be discarded to it, so Indominus does see the abilities on the cards.

@@literNL Ok so I tried this on MTGO yesterday and it worked as I thought it would, discarded them then drew them right back with all counteres in tact, and holy crap was that insanely powerful. I then checked with a ton of people to see if that interaction was correct, and oh my Even judges were very split on what should happen. Anyway what we eventually arrived at is that, because it requires creatures specifically to be discarded the game has to check that they are creatures which causes a reveal. I will probably make a short on this.....this is one of the most complicated interactions i think ive ever run into.

It's kinda like Gyruda and a RIP. Even though it mills the cards and they would be exiled it still checks for the cards milled this way and can return a creature. They 'discarded this way...' is the key clause that it checks for, not what happens afterwards

Ya know I felt like things were getting blurrier, but its hard to tell cause I cant see so good after lasik. Anyway the resolution gets complicated because of how the screen capture works, but i'll investigate to see if i can clean it up for future videos.

Ok I found the culprit, my desktop resolution wasnt set to 1080. Should get better after the view videos I've already filmed.

Good luck with that, it sounds real complicated. Like I mentioned in the video this is a commander that wants to you build the deck a very certain way....with roughly about 30 keyword creatures. It will be tough to find room for other stuff, but if you're determined enough you can probably make work :)

I think they do different things. Odric is a go wide deck where spreading is the main goal. Indominus is more similar to a voltron deck where you make 1 really nasty creature. Depends on which playstyle you are looking for. I think both kill at a similar speed.

Maybe someday wizards will release an off-type land cycle with an island that produces G/B. That would be insane but a lot of things are these days.
