COMMENTARY: Paul's Piano Piece

In 2003 The Beatles released a now-out-of-print bonus disc of rehearsals from the Get Back sessions. It featured an excerpt of a rare song titled "Paul's Piano Piece" and was newly published by McCartney. But bootleggers and historians have long regarded this previously uncredited piano performance as a cover version of Samuel Barber's iconic "Adagio For Strings." So did the Beatles possibly knick the most famous song of the 20th century? Tell us what you think.

This kind of reminds me of Phil Spector's vision heh. Seems like a fresh take, although It doesn't need more. Of course, personally speaking. It seems like a wiff of a tune that sounds alright to me, but the strings get more attention taken away rather than adding. But this is all probably driven by witnessing the original enough times to love it. Paul's timing, how it's played, what notes he's not tapping, and my favorite, the pauses in between. It's just admiration for the original (and only tape) I guess. I couldn't imagine what else could be added or whatnot, but the production and time put in by this team gives a fun and inspirational feeling. Makes me want to do a remix of my own!

That was my first response when I found this channel. I don’t know the man but feel like he would at least appreciate the effort. After watching him with other musicians and no musician on how he truly enjoys teaching other that he would like this channel.

I always assumed that was a classical piece that Paul was playing very badly to be honest. Though McCartney was a great songwriter his piano playing skills were no great mystery. The guy started with a C chord then and F chord then went from there. Its not hard playing simple chords once you understand the chord shapes. Gradually your skills get more complex. But with lots of talent a guy like McCartney can write hundreds of songs using simple piano chords. He can find melodies the rest of us can't or simply overlook.

McCartney Melodies are something else. His music is indeed very simple, but the melodies and form of the always is spectacular. I take for example what a maestro said about Beethoven 2nd movement on the 7th symphony, he said, correctly, the harmony is very simple and it's barely a melody, but when you take it all together it's simply beautiful
