Finally, your getting back to your roots, working on Snapper mowers, this is why we all subscribed. I feel so bad for that poor engine, it deserved better then that treatment. You gonna use the torch? Maybe you will live up to your name, and set fire to another carburetor cleaner infused rag? Oh my goodness gracious, the more we see in this engine, the worse it gets. Don't be dropping parts now, your garage is a mess, you'll never find lost parts in the black hole. Arn't you glad you can find parts for these old engines on the bay? You can't even get parts for modern mowers anymore, since companies are packing up and leaving gas machine production. Isn't that why you got a screw machine, can't you do it in your garage? If the intake valve was open the rain water would certainly fill up the cylinder with rain water.👍

I have the 1986 version of this. It looks to be the same mower, minus the self-propel option (even the same "5hp" and "Commercial" decals. It runs and cuts well, but after it's warmed-up, if you stop it, it won't start again. Somebody said it is caused by hydro-lock, but I don't know. It's hard to find a buyer for it without the self-propel. My grass catcher is white nylon material with the Snapper turtle and says "Hi-Vac Commercial" on it. The air cleaner is chrome.
