"Real" men singing for a real GOD!

This is what I grew up listening to as a youngster walking with the Lord and these songs saw me through finishing high school, basic training, AIT, OJT, the Persian Gulf War and getting my undergrad degree. The anointing is the anointing; point blank, period. It STILL destroys the yoke of the bound and sets free those who are held captive. I'm just sayin. Good stuff!

I wish people would stopping comparing Commissioned and Take 6 2 different styles. Both are dope artist. Anyway this song right here can get you crying once you understand the meaning. Great song. Sang Fred!!!

Look at the faces in the audience!😳😂😔 This was during the time when Choir based songs were the dominant sound in most Churches & artists like André Crouch, The Hawkins, The Winans & Commissioned were frowned upon, because their music & vocals were not BASIC & they were often compared with secular music! BUT what a lot of Christians didn’t understand was that the LYRICS & music to a lot of these types of songs were POWERFULLY progressive & reached MANY people who didn’t listen to Gospel music, which introduced Christ & Christianity to MANY people & changed MANY lives for the better!!! IMO, I’m not so sure it’s like that TODAY!!!

I remember I didn't like the majority of choir singers,at all... couldn't understand all the screaming, didn't sound good to but then came commissioned,with truth and sound 🔥,my sister gave me the CD when we were both terrible kids she was stealing dope money giving me some...now God had us even then...thank you Heavenly Father in Jesus name amen!!!!!!For saving us..yes Lord!!!

Wow! I remember my cousin, a friend and I singing this at a gospel fest during a fellowship with another neighborhood church. I sang the 2nd stanza. We did not know our High School Basketball Coach would be there and he stood up an said, "I did not know these 'Knuckle Heads" could sing. He was glad we were singing for the Lord. From that day to now, some 30+ years later, i am STILL praising God and Fred is STILL my favorite Singer! Love You, Jesus!

I was the same way Mrliveman2!! I used to be part of a Male Gospel group called "One Accord" in the Chicago area in the 80's, and Man EVERYTHING Commissioned sang, we sang! LOL We did some of The Winans' hits too, but Fred was off the chain!!! Thanks for posting.

Ah, the good ol' days. See, this is my standard of *singing.* I will not lower my standards to fit in the box of being young and not offending folks. This is *MY* standard for singing and if it's too unattainable then hey...so be it. I'll take having high standards and being stuck 60 years ago any day v. settling for autotune vocals. Notice how _nann_ one of them brothas needed autotune, Melodyne or reverb in order to make it do what it do. They simply opened they mouths and sounded great.

There are only 2 male gospel groups that gave you the gospel truth and you could sing along and feel better at the end of that song. I was in highschool when i first heard about Commissioned and the Winans. Love their music to this day.

I remember listing to them when they first came out, and I bought everything they put out, and I had it ringing throughout the house on the cassette tapes. And to this day I continue to blast them throughout the house. My nieces say they think of me every time they hear them sing . I will forever love this Group, as well as those who began to do their own thing. May God continue to enlarge their territories and bless them indeed is my prayer. ❤️🥰🙏🏽

This was classic it was gospel love isn’t love til you give it away. Like bishop Marvin winans said today’s music we making bad musical choices will never have good gospel music like this again. Back then it wasn’t about the money lights camera action. But it was about singing gospel music from the word gods love commissioned mastered a lot of there music about gods love.
