kinda ironic of paypal to say its a 4+ app (on the apple app store) when you have to be 18+ to transfer money out of the acc and if your under 18 they just take the money

My parents for some reasons are very strict over what i do- i asked to use their paypal but they just kept asking stuff like “Who are you selling to? Are they [insert my religion for some reason??]? Are they your age? Do you know them? Do they know your name?” And it’s honestly very annoying..-

Where I live, you can be 14 or older to have a PERSONAL bank account. I’m pretty sure if you just have the person’s email that’s connected to their account, you can e transfer them money. Me and my mom e transferred back and fourth once to add transactions to my card and give me my free 60$ sign up bonus, and it only needed her Emails. It probably varries person to person tho.

I agree with the dont do art for exposure, however exposure is imporant! I reccomend doing either raffles, or fanart of your favorite youtuber/artist instead! 👌🏼💕

This video was a while ago but I would like to mention for giftcards you can get digital mastercard gift cards! meaning you can spend them anywhere where that is accepted instead of having to figure out what gift card you want people to gift to you for comissions :) I've gotten one before and it's great the cards usually have a few years before they expire aswell

Another good idea would be to send in Amazon wishlist things and that person can buy it for you, just as long as you trust giving your address (unless there’s a way you don’t have to?),

I will say that although I don't specifically do "art for exposure", I have had times where I needed practice doing art before starting commissions so doing art for free (mostly for people I knew well) would allow me to get practice and indeed exposure that helped me a lot when I did decide to start commissions. Again, these were people I knew well and I enjoyed doing the art for free as it was practice I needed.

The issue with gift cards is.... that you still need to withhold taxes and you simply aren't allowed to get a VAT ID below a certain age in most countries. And yes, you can get caught for tax fraud as a minor. However, if you're a minor just discuss it with your parents, they can open a PayPal account, and they can apply for a VAT ID.

I do technically have a bank account (highschool checking) but I’m not old enough for paypal or anything. I want to open coms as a way to help pay for school trips. I did find this VERY helpful, but however it doesn’t work with what I want to do. I would ask my parents to make me an account but then they would ask about who I’m selling art to and be worried about me being on the internet. My best bet right now it to make and sell 3 pieces at an art show for a little bit of money that whould be split between me and the art collective i belong to. If anyone has ideas on how I can raise $500-$2000 as a minor in 7 months that would be great. I am a minor and I really want to take commisions, but I feel like as if my art isn't good enought and I am afraid that I might finish everything to late and that the other person thinks that I am scaming them because of that. If I'm correct, there IS actually a legal payment platform that you can use if you are 13 or older called Stripe. The only requirements is that your legal guardian also needs to sign off on it and you need a debit card in order to transfer your funds. Pros to Stripe: • Legal for minors 13+ to use • Can accept currency internationally and convert currency • Safe and encrypted with fraud prevention • Others do not need a Stripe account to pay you • Is not as finicky as PayPal; will not suspend or freeze your account at the drop of a hat Cons: • Requires a debit card to use • Requires your client to have a debit or credit card to pay you with • Requires some info from your legal guardian (not good if you're trying to do commissions in secret) • Cannot pay others using Stripe, only accepts money and transfers it into your bank account Most of the cons are easy to work around. In the US, most banks allow you to have a checking account if the account is a joint account with your legal guardian and if you are 13+. Some banks even have special types of checking accounts geared specifically for minors. These accounts also allow minors to have their own debit cards. As for not being able to pay others, platforms like PayPal allow you to pay the person you're trying to commission even if you don't have a PayPal through PayPal Invoicing, as long as you have a working email and a debit or credit card to use. Just ask the artist to send you an invoice.

You can have a cash app account as a minor you just have to be 13+ and a guardian has to approve the account! Edit: tell your buyer to not send it as a business transaction I made that mistake and let's just say it didn't end well 😅

THANKS SO MUCH I'm 13 and since this is 2022 I can now use cash app. But it's great to have other methods or payment that I didn't know about. I just finished another video on some things I must do to prepare like write terms and ways of communication between the customer and me. Now all that's left is advertising and getting some potential customers to buy some stuff. Though is there a video on pricing here? Since I think my art isn't worth too much especially as a rookie like myself. But I'm sure I'll decide before I advertise. But thanks again for the help anyways. When i wanted to open my commissions and i didnt have a paypal acc (and im not old enough to have one), my sister (who is 20) said that i could use her acc, because she doesnt use it, and since then i receive my payments via my sister's paypal. Is this wrong?

If you're in a country where you can have a card as a minor (I have one, it's a special type of account that doesn't let you get into debt, etc) then I believe Fiverr could be an option

Also, with parents permission you can be any age to open a cash app, my friends little brother has a cash app and he's 8

This was 4 yrs ago LMFAO but if any others watch this on this date or whatever, if your parents support that youre opening up art commissions, you can also use their paypal(assuming they have one) to send the money there, sure your parents has the money now, but you can always tell them to withdraw the cash from their paypal i guess or if youre wanting to buy something online with online payment, you can ask them to pat since you technically put money in their account 😅

Or you can also ask your guardian for a PERMISSION to open one of the PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp accounts and use their information to run it :P That's at least how I got PayPal. Not that there's anything there but once I get to do Commisions, the money can wait there or many things accept PayPal as a type of payment for subscription (best ones I know of are Netflix and Spotify)
