A bunch of your videos helped me to prepare for an interview process of a Senior UX position and getting an offer in the end. You're a saint - thank you so much! Keep rocking Femke!!

The WHY is so much forgotten, even by developers. It's so important and shows you really think about the problem and choose solutions for the right reasons.

This is probably the most comprehensive tutorial/tips on creating a UX portfolio that I have ever seen/heard. I had to figure most of this all myself just by asking during interviews (for jobs I didn't get thanks to my weak portfolio). You dropped important information that is helping me improve even now.

Showing the messy stuff is like UX boot camp stuff. Never did it this way - have had an amazing career with top companies focusing on the final ui’s but describing why I did what I did. Practically no one uses personas in a real job and all these artifacts.

Hi I just found you today on my suggestion list on youtube and I must say that I CANT STOP watching your videos. I am a student who is currently studying marketing and will be graduating in a year time, while I was doing internships that were related to marketing i realised I rlly wanted to do design. Thanks for really inspiring me and keep me going :)

Amazing Channel Femke. I'm not a junior designer anymore but I've been perpetuating this situation because my presentation skills are not on point. I consider than I have very good hardskills but I don't use them to make my softskills shine when I show my work to others. I'm revamping my portfolio now with all the tips you are giving. Thank you so much!

Great video! I took more notes than I usually do for anything. I'm usually not a note taker. My portfolio has been on standby for quite a few years. Every time I felt I should work on my portfolio an opportunity has presented itself and I find myself working on a new project with a new team and my urge to update my portfolio fades away. Eventually a project or my employment comes to an end and I find myself with back to where I was... without portfolio, not ready to apply for something I actually want. I was recently contacted by FB so I'm like "okay let me get my shh together" and found this video along with your whiteboarding video. Even if things don't go the way I'm hoping for I will be prepared for future opportunities like I've never been. Also the very last thing you said in this video is a funny but sad "that didn't age well". Thanks for this video! B

I like the holistic approach in your sample. Even if in the end the stakeholders would choose to use one of the existing option for a quick solution, it could provide a solid base for a future project.

If you're given a whiteboard task in an interview, and they intentionally give you more of a "solution" problem statement, I wonder if it's beneficial to go over possible "problems" that led to the team asking for this solution?

Thank you so much for the tips! I'm also wondering for a school project, the visuals are not the best (mostly due to a group work done in haste for a deadline). Would remaking the visuals to look more polished be better for a portfolio or to leave them as that for integrity?

@@femkedesign I've meant. It takes to much time to write such a perfect Case. How standard employee can find time to write detailed creation process study like this. Do you follow the same rule when writing documentation for some Uber projects? I just wanna say, that this Case study writing skills can't be decisive to tell if some person would be great fit for the job.

I started a lenghty comment and half way through I figured that this is not for public...yet, 'cause someone can find themselves offended (you know how internet is) which is not my intention... Thank you Femke! Love your content. I always look forward to your videos. I hope to start educating our community as well! Here is my portfolio if you have time for a peak. It's a bit bare bones because I'm focusing on content first. Would you ever pass up a portfolio because it's not in it's final stages of design? Would love to hear your thoughts. I would also love to know what you thought of my case studies. Are they too short with not enough detail? ericaprice.webflow.io/

Hi Femke, thanks for putting together such an informative video! Came just at the right time as I am looking to apply to a new position which is both exciting a scary 😆. I'm not sure if you are still checking these comments but if you are it would be amazing to get some quick feedback on my case studies. @@femkedesign Thank you so much for this thoughtful feedback and taking the time to look over my portfolios! I am going to look at how I can more clearly show the requirements and priorities on the case studies, maybe something quick to scan and bullet-pointed. @@femkedesign Really? I started out grossing 200k/yr in my first two years freelancing, following the advice and inspiration from the most famous designers.
