Here are some of the most commonly used expressions in Morocco for English speakers who might want to visit us someday. I do not consent with false beliefs, our people use a lot of these expressions out of habit. Most don't even realize the full meaning of these sentences but are very convenient to keep a conversation going. The one they call "Allah" is Source, the creator of all beings. Who welcomes all in love no matter the race or country. Moroccans are very open minded in spirituality. I've seen them combine different teachings from different cultures to best serve their vision of the divine.

I smiled throughout the video, you have a sincere/kind/cute/happy aura,, and I think the fact that you don't like the word "gawri/gawria/gwer" and warn foreigners about it says a lot about you, you seem like a great and honest person. great video!

Hey Aishah, I don't know how to spell all the words in arabic script since some of them are only from the Moroccan/North African arabic dialect, but I hope this helps! Hello/peace be upon you (basic version) - السلام عليكم - assalamu a3laykum Peace be upon you (reply to the above) - وعليكم السلام - wa a3laykum assalam And the mercy of Allah (2nd part of hello) -و رحمة الله - wa raHmatullah And his blessings (3rd part of hello) - و بركات - wa barakatu May it bring you health (said before eating) - بصحة - bisaHa - OR - 'your health' - بصحتك - bisaHtak May Allah bring you health (reply to the above) - ليتك صحة - laeetak saHa (not sure if I spelt the arabic right on this one) Praise be to God (giving thanks after the meal) - الحمد الله - alHamdullillah My brother (probably equivalent of British 'hey mate' or American 'hey man') - خويا - KHoya (not sure about the arabic spelling) My sister - اختي - uKHti/KHti How are you - kidayr How is your mother - kidayr muk How is your brother - kidayr KHuk How is your father - kidayr bak I'm good (reply to how are you) - لاباس - labess OR - لاباس لحمد الله - labess alHamdullillah Please - afak Please can I have water - afak almaa Water - الماء - almaa Orange juice - ....عصير - a3Seer de limoon (I think the end of the phrase is a bit french because orange in standard arabic is برتقال - bortuQal) Please I'm hungry - afak fijuh How much is this - sh-Hal hadi A hundred - مئة - meea Two hundred - مئتان - meea-tan Ten - عشرة - a3shra One - واحد - wAhed Ok - waKHa Is too much - bezzef Thank you - شكرا - shukran May God protect you - la aftuk May God help you - la awnuk May God guide you - laihdeek Let's go - يلله - yalla Let's go do this - yalla beena What - kifesh/shnoo What is this - shnoo hada/hadi Why - علاش - a3lesh What's going on here - ash kayn hna Straight ahead - nishan/tol Behind you - lor Right - alyiman. Standard arabic for 'right' - يمين - yameen Left - alisr. Standard arabic for 'left' -يسار - yasAr Here - hna. Standard arabic for 'here' - هنا - houna We are here - hna hna. Standard arabic for 'we' - نحن - nahnoo. So hna is the Moroccan version. There - timma It is beautiful - haji zween/ haji jmeel It is good - haji mzian It is amazing - haji wayr Stranger/foreigner - gaooree / gaooreea (for a girl) Strangers/foreigners - alguwer Goodbye - بسلامة - bislama. Marhaba! Your video is excellent! I shared it with my French students before we travel to Morocco next week and they loved your sense of humor and kindness. While some felt anxious before, after seeing your video they feel more comfortable with the idea of trying to speak some basic Arabic in addition to French. Shoukran bezzaf! Edit: As a language teacher, I also really appreciate your enthusiasm for teaching interesting/funny expressions especially like "lla adik". Also, your note about "gawri(ya)" is really useful and shows your compassion. If I ever travel to Marrakech, I'll definitely consider your Airbnb :-)

Hi Moukass, loved this video, very understanding and easy to learn, because when you are translating to arabic, you say words in a slow and clear way that I can hear how it's pronounced and that makes it easy to learn. If you have time, do more videos like this, although I'm Portuguese, for me it's easier learning. Keep up with the good job 👌
