In this lesson we are going to look at pairs of adjectives that end with -ed and -ing
There are many English adjectives that have two forms - one that ends in -ed and one that ends in -ing
An adjective that ends in -ing is used to describe: the characteristic of a person, a thing or a situation.
For example: It is amazing, it is interesting, it is boring.
An adjective that ends in -ed is used to describe: a feeling or an emotion. It is used to describe a temporary thing.
If you say that something (or someone) is boring, that thing (or person) makes you feel bored!

Hi Emma, great to be with you after a real lapse. Aren't these 'Participial Adjectives'? Your take on these adjectives is absolutely correct, but what if they are used as we use normal ones to restrict nouns and pronouns, like 'a burning question', and 'a burnt paper' or 'a burning paper, and the difference between these two types of participial adjectives is very much evident in their forms, aren't they? I'd love to watch on my point on your next vid on the subject. Till then, take care.

Waw!! Good one!! Ing adj needs to use to indicate source of action. While expressing our feelings ed adj has to use. Film was boring. I felt bored. Is it correct?

Great lesson. Do you have a lesson explaining the rule for Adjectives ending in "ed" that do not follow the rule and are pronounced as a separate syllable /id/ instead, such as beloved, wicked, crooked, blessed?

Humberto Arias No. Debe usarse "your" porque se está dirigiendo directamente a ella, y el interlocutor (ella) es el pronombre "you".
