That describes my mom in a nutshell. She's always gotten away with it because she's a Mormon, and no one believes she would be a horrible monster. That's the kicker. I've never seen anyone get away with as much as she has. Plus, she's a baiting, cop-calling narcissist. She is dangerous to be around and she's even turned my dad into a clone of her. Every time she would set me up, I start pointing back at her, then comes the virtue-signaling, and before I know it, I'm being interrogated for something I never even did! These people are dangerous to be around. Especially the ones that spend more time at church than they do at home. You better believe their goal is to put you in jail because you're not going along with their plan.

0) walk away.... If cant. 1) identify manipulation tactics. In real time 2) practice responding without reacting. They push emotional buttons which send you back in time to those feelings. To hard moments. Try to stay in present moment. Use physical Grounding techinques and mindfulness. You are here. And you are safe. If you dont feel that presence and safety. It is ok to exit to the conversation. 3) dont defend againest false narratives. Defending treats accusations like they have weight and make you seem guilty. Digs you into a hole. Calmly ask questions instead. "Where would you get that idea?" "Thats confusing. Can you explain?" If younfeel the need to defend yourself. It is a good sign you should sit back. Ask questions and let them do the talking. Because it will quickly become obvious when they dont have a leg to stand on 4) question their assumptions. Every does... No one does... Zone in. Pick apart. Can be better to let it sit in awkward silence. 5) keep written records. Dont record. Bit dodgy. But good tool for grounding reality if they have a habit of rewriting history. 6) deflect blame. No blame game. Shield self. Dont accept that. Dont have to explain or defend self. 7) practice saying why is that so important to you? If they know your trigger they will play with it. Dont engage. 8) practice confidence. They might try harder to knock you down. But take this as a sign that it is working. 9) leveraging 3rd perspective. Use 3rd party evivdence to counter their mean opinions. Examples people who support you and you are not alone. 10) practice selective disclosure. You dont have answer questions. You dont have to disclose everythong to them. They would practice lying by omission. But this is this healthy boundary version. 11) use the silent treatment. Not how they do. But you dont need an answer for everything. Get comfortable with silence. So long pauses can get them to speak rather then you accidentally filling silence with information or statements they can twist againest you.

I’m no longer with the ex-partner. He’s no longer an entity in my life. He can “win” all he wants. No biggie! No revenge needed. His life is a mess of his own making! Gonzo!!!

Amen to that. I recently ended my relationship and realize no revenge necessary. She has a hard life she brought upon herself. She said it best " everyday I live in hell". My response was " by your choosing. " she creates alot of her problems then complains and blames everyone else. She blames her ex for having a child when she asked him not to wear a Condom and ejaculate in her. Then blames her parents for keeping the child because she wanted an abortion. She is so toxic I can't do it anymore. Insanity at its finest. I didnt wait for the crazytrain to stop at the station, I JUMPED off before she talked me out of leaving. 😮

Look them straight in the eyes, call them out - using short direct words and then walk away in silence. It really works and getting your point across that you are not to be messed with at the same time. Trust this method - I’m telling you - they won’t know what to think or do with you next .

Good mantra.😊 Ive learned each narc has their own weapon of choice. My narc used the guilt trip, and blame shifting. That would infuriate me. I'd be in emotional pain for days with no apology. Only to be told she was telling the TRUTH and I can't handle it. She would blame shift when something went wrong in her life, then direct it at me. At first it didn't bother me but it happened more often till I started to believe I was the problem. I finally left the relationship because she was damaged to fix. Everything with her was drama. Sad tho, because I left someone to be with her. Now I'm alone.

Mine use to build me up for a date, then create a fight, and cancel. Then text an hour before the date started and want to go. I would get anxiety waiting for the fight to happen before each date. She use to tell me what to wear, to match what she was wearing. She would ask what I wanted for breakfast, then derail my interest by saying she didn't want breakfast. Subtle mind games around every corner. It took awhile for me to see her patterns but I caught on, and ended it. Dead end road to nowhereville.😢

Dear Christina. Wow. I had to listen to the video twice. Really good advice. My narcissistic wife is extremely good at love bombing and manipulation. Even as narcissistic expert in the mean time, I still fall for it. I do not make promises to her normally and say “I will check if it works”. But to check means always “yes” for her, as she knows, I am smart and find a solution in most cases. Therefore, I changed the strategy now, I still say I check if this is possible, but the result will always be worse, than what I suggested to check. Thanks for making my life easier. I still have a tendency to be the nice guy and not the strong boxing fighter I always wanted to become in my life 🥊.

About the voice, I'm a soft spoken guy. Lately in the car, after moving from a restaurant, I told her straightly :"take the main street then first at right!". Like a precise order (it wasn't intentional). She activated herself with a huge smile while :"haaa! That it's a clear instruction 😃". BUT... She didn't know the way to go back home. With the same voice if she knew a road even longer, she would have be bitter 🤷🏾‍♂️ A real narc though

I would ride with my ex narc to a certain winery many times. She would ask me how to go like she never remembered anything. I couldn't understand why she didn't remember, especially when she drove there with me at least 20 times and it was easy to find.

If the thing is no use for destroying you or satisfying her own ego, there is no effort to do whatsoever. So why would she has to remember this road !? And she's the one who's driving! No no no... She keeps all her energy to fuck you up or to make herself look good

Journalling you triggers helpt me. Also you see what he does to you and what to do about it. 1 what happened 2 how you feel. 3 how you react on it 4 what you can do and say the next time and how to evade it. And live your life like he isn't there. And you live like you are alone

Is gaslighting always something cruel they say or could it be disguised as a compliment or something kind they tell you or want you to believe? Does any of that make much sense to you?
@AFNacapella
@AFNacapella Жыл бұрын
"you're too good for that/them", "I always listen to you", "you're so smart", "God loves you" depending on relationship and their knowledge of the manipulated anything messing with someone's head can be considered gaslighting. imagine someone sneaks in during the day and does your dishes without telling you, even denying they did it. it's nice to get your dishes cleaned, isn't it? false hope or induced passivity also often comes with nice words: "they are so strong, don't go and offer help, you wouldn't want that, too..."
@mischiefmakerstudios9900
@mischiefmakerstudios9900 Жыл бұрын
@@AFNacapella Thanks for explains all of that. See, this is sort of new to me, but I have noticed how some former friends & currents friends may have this behavior online. I main,y asked because I dabble in drawing cartoons. Long story short, I thought I had patched things up with this one friend. I asked him if he felt my art was good enough to get into Nickelodeon or not? Right away he felt it was, but looking at some of my art & comparing it to the pros, let’s just say I am not there yet. Only then with no warning whatsoever, he ghosted me & blocked me. Just as I thought we were becoming friends again. Didn’t make a bit of sense because it wasn’t like we got into a disagreement or anything, just one day he was gone. Then I started studying about this & noticed things my friends had in common. Made me begin to wonder if my friend really meant what he said about my art or not? Can you understand my feelings about that?

6:00 Could you feasibly record the narcissists behaviour and conversations with them, then transcribe that into a journal, and delete the recordings? Or might that still violate recording laws?
@giftij
@giftij 4 ай бұрын
I think that is brilliant. Better still save it for when you can sit and replay to pick points to write. It's something that is recommended and done in social research, when filling questionnaires or interviewing participants. Sometimes, the candidate shares some sensitive information at the end of your data collection and you realise that s/he clearly wanted that off record yet would still want you to do something with that info. One can politely ask to record with confidentiality or you run to your car and quickly write or voice record the communication. It would definitely make it into the final reports but in ethical confidentiality

And your profession is? A plumber’s arguments and insights on the subject are untrustworthy, because he/she lacks a proper education and practical knowledge regardless of their life experience. Personality disorders are much harder to analyze and understand than most people think. I think it’s important to state your profession at the beginning of your videos so that people can decide if you’re trustworthy and reliable to watch or not.
