Zelda Theory: Ganondorf's CURSE (War Timeline)

None other character in The Legend of Zelda Series is responsible for causing so much trouble and conflicts as him, as he terrorises Hyrule in Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, Oracle of Seasons and Ages and the The original Legend of Zelda.
But what about the events and wars in Zelda lore that takes place between the games? In this Zelda theory I will explain how Ganondorf and Ganon caused and lost the many later wars of Hyrule.

Maybe not the opinion of many Zelda fans but I personally love Ganondorf Dragmire... i believe his character is just as key to the story as Link, Zelda, and a host of others as the major canon. In fact without him ... we would have nothing to fight and thus have no story. To me he is as classic as the Joker from Batman and as timeless as kryptonite is in the life if Superman. After all every hero needs a nemesis... and Ganondorf lives up to that status

This was a pretty awesome theory. The war tactics stuff was fun but the shining aspects were pointing out the various points in hyrule's history where wars actually came about. It's really interesting seeing the darker aspects of the Zelda world. All in all great video, I enjoyed it. Also nice use of Hyrule Total War clips! :D

I agree, the history for Zelda series is much alike to real life history, because it's very racist... obviously the Hylians aka White people defeat the barbarian horde of the Gerudo aka Brown people...

Truth Hurts lesser races lmao, what makes you so sure they would have done worse? For all we know we could be a much more advanced civilization today. We know other factors like religion come into play, eg the Crusades. Humans originated from Africa, so calling them "lesser" doesn't make that much sense in the grand scheme of things.

I think I'm starting to notice a pattern: - The bad guys attack the good guys - The good guys can't hold their own and get their asses kicked - The good guys summon the gods as a "last-ditch effort". - The gods intervene and kick the bad guys' asses. - The good guys win a chicken shit victory and act like nothing happened until the next group of bad guys comes along and the cycle repeats itself. Seriously, I would like to see Hyrule win a victory against her enemies *without* the need for divine intervention.

+Elective Toast ...But the video said this only happens once and I don't think you can count Hyrule being Sealed as a victory for anyone. The only time the Hylians have tried to summon the gods the gods made things arguably worse and caused a much greater devastation than Ganondorf likely would have (see Ganondorf's seven year reign in OoT for example). Every other victory they had won by tactical maneuvers, well planned strategy, or the destined Hero appearing to end a current age of darkness before it can really begin which I don't think is related to the gods intervening (as the Golden Goddesses seem distant at best, callous at worst).

+Commonwealth realm what if there will be alternative timelines with alternative wars in Hyrule Ganondorf is now a ghost so this means the Zelda of twilight Era was a little gril and she was in Arbiturs Ground and Arbitur almost Killed her so King Daltus the third decided to exicute Arbitur and builded a prison ruin named after him as for Zelda because of the Trama of it she did not become Queen she got so sad that she locked herself up in her room and she had a son and called his name Daphnes but then Ghost ganondorf gave him evil powers and made him the king of Hyrule so this means there will be alternative wars and alternative account of the flood this war is called shadow ghost wars and Ghost ganondorf taking over the world and splits the Era of twilight into diffrent timelines that will be more scary and more creepy that leads into pre flood and the flood era make a video called Zelda Reborn and talk about this

A few things I need to get off my chest: 1) The king of Red Lion broke the triforce of WISDOM (not courage) in half with COURAGE being split into eight fragments going towards the Windwaker; 2) Where were the Shiekah when the Hylian/Gerudo war took place? 3) I've always felt that 4 out of the 5 main races within Hyrule coexisted with pure harmony: Hylian, Shiekah, Zora and Goron. Sorry to go through that length, but I had to get those out including the correction needed since it was in one of the released titles; awesome job on the rest of the vid though

I still think the Hero of Time Link was involved in Hylian and Gerudo war. Because in the game Twilight Princess and Hyrule Histora mention "ancient hero of long ago" aka Hero Shade aka HoT Link. So it's stated canon fact that HoT Link later become a Knight of Hyrule to help in the war effort😔.

The biggest flaw I have with this is the fact that the Gerudo have more honour than people think, yes they’re thieves but they don’t hurt woman or children. I refuse to believe that the gerudo tribe would join Gannon even if he is the king of thieves.

The Gerudo woman were probably force to fight against the Hylians. I wouldn't be surprised if Ganondorf use the triforce of power to cause fear to his own people if they didn't follow his orders. He probably say something like this "fight for your king or die where you stand". So yeah I don't think had choice in the matter.

I've always had a problem with the OOT timeline split. The Child side makes total sense... but the Link beating Ganon vs Link failing doesn't make sense at all... there was no time travel involved in it, so only one of them could have happened... either he beat Ganon, or he Didnt...

The Legend of Zelda's storyline is deep as fuck man..... Its like if you took Final Fantasy and made it even more deeper. Even when playing the Ocarina of Time, I would often look at the barren landscape and the mountains in the background and try to theorize about what might be out in that world. I feel like the Zelda world is so confined to Hyrule and different versions of hyrule, that we never really get to see anything else in this world.... Well, besides Termina, but that's up for debate as to weather that was even within reality or some sort of afterlife.

@26:20 It should be the Triforce of Wisdom that was broken in half and given to Zelda. The Triforce of Courage was shattered (quite literally) into eight fragments and scattered across the Great Sea.

Now that Nintendo does spinoffs, an RTS set within one of the canonical wars from the timeline would be awesome. I actually thought Hyrule Warriors was going to be about one of the wars until they set it in yet a different timeline.

You should do Vaati! He technically comes before Ganon, as an existential threat, in the official timeline. What if Demise's promise/curse didn't apply only to Ganon but to other villains in the series? Vaati has multiple appearances in the series and has visual elements in his design that could be considered connecting tissue to various concepts. Such as enemies, mini bosses, structures, locations, or puzzle elements. What if Vaati was really Agahnim? What if the truth stones, the Sheikah, or Termina were somehow connected to Vaati or the Minish? Hell, what if Majora was connected to Vaati or Demise? It's interesting to note that the Minish seem to cease to exist in the world though they were there in the beginning. Also interesting to note how much the symbol of the single unblinking eye is used in the series as a whole. A symbol which taken chronologically; is the symbol of Vaati

I must have missed the massive number of Gerudo in Ocarina of Time. I somehow got the impression that the Gerudo were few in number and were struggling to survive.

+Lunavarion System limitations ;) There would have been far more inhabitants in Castle Town in Real life. Still there are more Gerudo Warriors, in and around the Gerudo Fortress than Hylians in Castle Town.

I feel like this was more of a story connection than a theory. Still loved it, I just feel like there was no claim really made by it. That said, I really wanna replay Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess now. I should probably finish Wind Waker HD first though. That triforce quest still annoys me though. +Noah Darby-villis This theory would take on the wars of Hyrule and in this part particular conflicts caused by Ganondorf. The Spirit War takes place after the ultimate flooding of Hyrule and Ganondorf's death and was because of this not included in this two-part theory.

There is a problem Rauru was in the light temple not the temple of time ( those are two different places)

Question: Where did you get that the sage of light, Rauru is the owl that guides Link? I don't remember 100% because it has been a while but I am pretty sure he said that when you meet him, he is unable to leave the temple and I think he also mentions that he is more or less a spirit as his body died, I think he says killed by Ganondorf but again, my memory here is a bit faulty. Even if he isn't just a spirit, I am pretty sure ALL the sages say that after you awaken them, they cannot leave the Light Realm e.g the Sacred Realm once you talk to them in the Temple of Light.

+Boredfan Gerrude He cannot leave the Sacred Realm because he had a task to fulfil and guard the temple and the Triforce. In the child timeline, where the Triforce was split upon Link's return to the past and then soon after left, Rauru had no reason to remain in the Chamber of Sages when the entire temple was threatened by destruction. (Ganondorf's destruction of OoT Castle Town).

That might explain how he could have survived the war and had a descendant but what about how he was an owl during the game before the final battle with Ganondorf and sealed him away? I'm not criticizing by the way, I am just trying to cover any potential holes in the theory.
