What a fascinating list of films that provides a glimpse into ancient Egyptian civilization. The Mummy films are always fun adventure rides set in such an exotic time and place. It was interesting to learn about some of the less mainstream but still visually stunning epics like Exodus: Gods and Kings. You've compiled an excellent selection here spanning different genres that effectively bring this ancient world to life on screen. Videos like this one are great for discovering new movies to fuel my curiosity about ancient Egypt. Thanks for sharing!

@randyeduo

Accurate huh? more like denial to me--because whites look odd trying to associate themselves with a civilization which existed long before, we the black race brought them here--it really is a big joke--you can see that they don't belong there dressing in that attire. this civilization had a high level of spirituality and morality, something none of these other races can claim to be. they carry with them, a sick hatred to the very race who brought them here and taught them human civilization--they need to start telling their children the truth about it

The Egyptian 1954. No one has ever seen it, but it's a beautiful movie with a most original story. A poor young boy grows up to be a physician to the Pharoah and is seduced and destroyed by a beautiful woman. His destruction leads to the destruction of the Pharaoh. It's a great story beautifully filmed and set. Jene Tierny, Michale Wilding, Victor Mature and many more Hollywood legends.

So far, Agora is the only one that had an Egyptian actor, Sami Samir (8:01), play an Egyptian character. Egypt is controversial in the talk of racial politics. Eugenics supporters believed they were white because "they were smart." Blacks believe they were black because Egypt is in African and has been described as dark/brown skin (like many others). Currently, almost all Egyptian citizens are of Arabic descent or have Arabic features. The only other actor I know that is Egyptian and played an Egyptian is Rami Malek, while Sofia Boutella of North African descent is the closest female I know of in The Mummy.

thats because u do not understand the history, these are Araba decedents who white out the blacks ==and even u know that these Arabs have nothing to do with this history---well, we thank them for preserving our history, but we will reclaim authority of it in the near future and no one else can anyone who is trying to doubt that this civilization is not of black people are in a strong sense of denial---because the depictions of all the drawings and sculptors proves who these people were. the people behind this civilization left behind so much of themselves and who they were, so why the hell there are all these questions about who they were? only people in denial would do such a thing, and its white people--- its no wonder they make movies depicting themselves as Egyptians---whereas history will prove that this civilization was around for tens of 1000's of years. that also, whites are here on this planet for almost 8000 yrs, more like 7700. u can see that these whites do not fit in nor blend in with the culture of this civilization, but Hollywood doesn't give a damn. they are all a part of the white lies and distortion of history by the white race the Arabs came as invaders and tormentors of black people and so did the whites. they will all soon find out where they belong in the schemes of things because the next leaders of this planet will be handed over back to the black race---Africa was once the center of the world and it will be that again---there is no one stopping that, they were only able to hinder and slow it down and even they knew that what we are witnessing on this planet is the end of white rule--the next leaders are going to lead not with weapons of mass destruction but through a moral and spiritual code and none of these other races fit into this.

what about the Cecil B DeMille versions of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and CLEOPATRA? Kudos on knowing about AGORA. You can hardly count a version of THE MUMMY - and even if you did, Boris Karloff or Christopher Lee did it better. You might as well do ASTERIX AND CLEOPATRA CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA, if only for Claude Rains being almost the only authentically short Caesar onscreen. Another of the many wrong things about EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS: Egyptians and Hittites didn't use horses as cavalry. You missed probably the best: Howard Hawks LAND OF THE PHARAOHS

@@lorraineclarke4868 Regarding the main characters, one only has to look at the names in the cast and look at the people themselves; they are all people of European decent. The 1956 "The Ten Commandments" however was filmed in Egypt, and Egyptians were cast as extras. The dude that drove Ramses' chariot was an Egyptian, and all the Egyptian charioteers (except Henry Wilcoxon) that Ramses led in pursuit of the Israelites were cast from the Egyptian cavalry.

I remember the hype about this movie a year or more before it was even released. Probably the most over-hyped movie starring the most over-hyped actress and perfect tabloid couple. What you describe is pretty much what I've always expected. Never got around to seeing it. Wouldn't mind, however. Give it a fair shot, eh?

The exodus is found to be fiction. Moses did not grow up with ramses the second. There is a whole series on the this. Ramses the second was a warrior king who also signed the first peace treaty in the world. He was away warring most of his reigning years.
