Comparing a 450 dirt bike to a 350 dirt bike. I ride the Suzuki RMX450Z and the KTM 350 EXC-F to see the differences between the bikes.

Great video Steve, thanks for posting. Those hills look pretty gnarly but you did really well and the KTM is in its element. You seem very happy with it and good to see you enjoying it. Cheers,

there such a great bike, the more you ride it the more you will love it more and more, it still surprises me every ride, once you fit tubeless you will see even more how it tractors up hills. so can we see another 350 in the family soon ?? (brother)

I would say the only thing I do not like about my RMX is its weight. It is a handful to pick up when it is down. And it does wear on you in terrain such as this, which quite frankly it isn't designed to do. It is capable of doing technical, as I frequently do where I live, but again, there are lighter bikes available, if that is all the riding you do. A good portion of terrain that it does well on is easier single track and double track as well as fireroads, etc. On that terrain it is stable, planted, and the suspension works great and the power is nice and smooth. A bonus is just how cheap you can get one. I paid $7k US dollars. Great bike overall. I'm converting mine to be dual sport, which is should be well for. Does the RMX in Australia have a keyed ignition? I need to add one to mine to make it street legal in the States. Thanks!

I think the 350 enduro is an easier ride then the 250 race bike. It's a massive jump up to the 250 but will get used to it quick as the power is very controllable on those 250 4 stroke. Looks like an awesome property

Great video. I think you need to look at your gearing it can make a big difference. I had a 520 exc yes heavy , flaming out just apain in tight stuff. Played around with sprockets man what a difference made me very confident as well to the point where i hardly droped it and rare flameouts. Cheers.

I believe the right bike for him will be that rm125 you're building before he goes full on 250f. he looks to be doing just fine, but it will be less of a learning curve jumping straight to the 250f over the 125 from his 85. based on your video it help make the decision of maki the move to a 350, since I'm getting older and I'm doing more single track it sounds like 350 will be the better choice for me since it between that or the new honda 450x. I guess I'll have to demo one first.

im 6-4 and about 210lbs and own a 201+9 rmx450z with only the throttle screw removed and really loving this bike . Even though it is not fully uncorked the bike is FAST. But seems this type of riding it would be surly too big. I also own a 2020 honda crf250f that would be perfect for this type of riding you should check them out . Did you notice a difference when you uncorked the bike? Does it start better? For a fuel injected bike I still have to choke it to fire right up .

Yeah my bike was unrestricted with cherry bomb started without choke the power difference it big goes like a RMZ450.

Steve sorry mate I might be spending more of your money. Are those stock KTM hand guards mounted to the master cylinders? Mine were and I broke the bottom clamp on the clutch side...hit after hit after hit will fracture the white metal, thought I could get just the clamp...hell no...you have to buy the entire assembly...lever and all. I managed a u-bolt to keep riding until my Cycra Probends arrived, then I installed the new cylinder. They mount directly to the handle bars mm from the bar clamps, solid connection. And, be nice to your brother 😊...great spot to ride.
@BrokenSprocket

How does the uncorked RMX450z compare to a similar year uncorked WR450f? Here in the US the RMX is not very popular, so it is hard to get a real opinion of it compared to other bikes since no one rides one here. They are SUPER CHEAP here compared to the WRs. I can get a new (leftover) 2019 or 2020 RMX for a couple thousand(!) dollars cheaper than the WR. We ride tight, sandy woods trails here in Florida, with some occasional mud. Not too many hills here. 2 strokes usually do better here (my last bike was a 2009 Husqvarna WR300 2 stroke...loved it), but I am leaning towards a RMX or WR since I will be occasionally going slow, stopping and re-starting, teaching my little boy on his TTR50e.
@BrokenSprocket

In Australia the WR450f is popular my RMX450Z had a cherry bomb and was unrestricted and went very good. I have ridden a 2019 WR450f and I liked my RMX450Z more even though it was a bit heavier. I have had no problems with the bike and found it was good value for money.

I have just bought a 2020 450EXC-F Sixdays, after a small test ride with a 2019 350 EXC-F. On flat off-road, I didn't feel any difference between the 2. They both handle like a MTB compared to my 1190 Adventure R, lol. It's not easy to find a hill here to test ride on. Fingers crossed.
