Is a more expensive shampoo a BETTER shampoo? I compared two different products from Turtle Wax to find out how different they are and how much they cost per litre.

This is a good example of companies making products for its intended target market. Thank god we have people like yourself helping us decide what camp we see value in. Personally I’d spend more on performance and ease of use, but for those who have not interest in car care the biggest bottle wins every time.

Quite an interesting video. Never really been a fan of Turtle wax, but with the recent launch of new products I’ve tried a few and been pleasantly impressed with some of them. Tried the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wash & Wax shampoo and it’s very similar, no duds at all but leaves a nice hydrophobic layer behind. Just something not right about washing a car with no suds. 🧐👌🏻the Graphene QD is pretty good too.

Great video sir. I have to say I use the ‘cheap’ TW orange water shampoo if I’m doing a quick wash. It’s not perfect BUT for the price, with free delivery… I have no complaints. It foams up well if you add the shampoo first then the water. I always finish a wash, even a quick one, with a rub over with some sort of detailing spray or wax, just to get a good shine. The old adage; ‘you get what you for’ never lets me down in life

Interesting ;) You do say that a lot in this one. A sunny day in Scotland is like hens teeth. With regards to the Big Orange, firstly with the bucket size, I'd probably go to the turtle wax us web site and find out what they would class as a bucket. Without looking, i would assume that the majority of US use the 3-5 gallons (US) size buckets, so base my assumption based on the fact that this a US product. The second point is, that this shampoo, has a wax of some description in it, according to TW web site, so you would have gotten a better result with warm water to better suspend the wax content in the solution and might have gotten a better result on the panel. Also with this type of product you want want to use a cloth to wash, or go back over the panel with a cloth to even out the wax on the panel. I don't think it explicitly tells you on the bottle that it has a wax in it, so you were correct saying it left something behind. 3rd point does it not say to add the shampoo to the bucket, then fill the bucket with a strong stream of water? anyhoo, I don't think the outcome would have massively changed, but how can we be sure ;) With the instructions on the bottle, you followed them correctly, but its not the best result you could have gotten, fair play. With slick n slide in the foam cannon did you use warm water? we site instructions say use warm water in the foam cannon. Did you use a different mitt with this, as if not, it could have been covered in wax from the previous test. You also didn't cover that this could be used as a clay lube while washing, a massive time saver. I find that turtle wax shampoos don't have enough cleaning power for my liking. Been using the old hybrid snow foam, with bubble-gum scent for a few years now and even at max dilution, its pretty weedy in the cleaning department, but again is a wash n wax, and using warm water definitely helps with upping the bite and finish. It was a good buy and has lasted way way longer than I expected 5l to last, and was a fantastic bargain, but so was the Bilt hamber shampoo. I wonder if adding in ONR would up the slickness, or even TW power max shampoo? Good Vid, as always.

For the weekend warrior products I've always assumed a bucket as your typical builders black 10 litre buckets as it's what we all use
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran 2 ай бұрын
I think as detailing has become more popular people are buying the bigger wash buckets as they become more easily available. There's nothing wrong with a 10L bucket but the larger options are preferred by many for the headroom that they give.

@@SpeckyMcSporran .... I don't deny it as I've bought two myself but for your average weekend warrior it's still your bog standard black builders bucket or at least that's what I see getting used.... I have never used these TW products? I've used their Ceramic Hybrid Shampoo, not impressed with that product. I do like some of the TW hybrid products and they are made in the State where I live, a plus for me. I try to use American made products when possible and may consider the slick 'n slide product. I am currently using a shampoo from 3D called nano shampoo. 64 oz makes 5 gallons of shampoo for only $40 US. I put about 1 oz per 2-3 gallons of water or 1 oz per foam gun. I am very impressed with the lubricity. I do listen to your & Paul's podcast, even though I wouldn't or couldn't buy some of the chemicals you use? But still entertaining...

Nice comparison Craig - strange that TW who a always covered the “budget” market very well, chose to make their “premium” shampoo incredibly expensive. I expect their Zip Wax will be worth the extra cost over that orange water for the majority of uninterested car washers. As for the enthusiasts, one of the super slick, super concentrated, products from scene brands will do at least as good a job as the SnS for a much lower cost per wash. How are you getting on with the Ava - still loving it?

It's great in a foam cannon and great as a wash. For price it's a must have in the arsenal of cleaning products. Currently using prokleen snow foam which I use on my main car and it's decently priced as well in a world where some stuff are priced ott. Enjoying the content.

Fill half way, then put your 4 caps in and then fill another bit with the gun. I use it for my wheels, my partners & daughter's car and it works well. I use slick n slide or labcosmetica semper on my own car 👍 seriously though, a good little topic for the podcast would be WHY does every detailing KZfaqr feel the need to overflow their bloody buckets. I must say I agree. If you still have a mostly full bucket when you're done it's just needlessly diluting the mixture. The only benefit I can see is if you're not using a rinse bucket it may keep more of the dirt off your mitt. But really with a good prewash that shouldn't matter. I've always assumed youtube detailers overflow the bucket just for looks, like the overflowing mug in beer commercials.

interesting that. I'm not sure I'm won on either in a lance but you can't test oranges against bananas and have a fair result . Maybe the 5 litre is aimed more at you commercial user ? Stuff we use is like water but has NO instructions on the tub so it's just a couple of glugs into the bucket . Good review though , bound to be other products like this with clearer results , and not just shampoos . Often think with some waxes n polishes does spending an extra 10 , 15 or 20 even on a product up their range mean I'm getting a noticeable result ? Harder to test that I guess in finishes it's more user experience. Right off to watch Paul's review
