At its not always possible to work on a car that's not in direct sun, which is the best pre wash that can be applied in sunlight without harming the paint if it dries on. If the answer is none, then what's the answer?

That's a lot of Bilt Hamber, I always read that you didn't need to use much of it, so it was really economical. 1:10 would be a lot smaller amount of product, about 90ml of product compared to 300ml+, that would be about 1:2.

You have to think about how much the foam lance will dilute the mix. 10:1 in isn't 10:1 out which is why it's important to know your own lances introduction rate. I was basing my figures on the percentage that Built Hamber themselves stated is typical use.

@@SpeckyMcSporran thanks for the speedy response. Top bloke. I really enjoyed watching this channel, you seem really down to earth and honest with your reviews. Many detailers talk a lot of bullshit and just product-push but your videos are a breathe of fresh air in comparison. Hi Specky, can you use the bodywork conditioner shampoo on a ceramic coated car or is the pure shampoo a better option

I’ve been using 4 star Ultimate Paint Protection for 20 years. It’s a liquid. You first prep the car with a chemical cleaner of your choice. Then you put the product on the entire vehicle, wait an hour, then dust off. I’ve had it keep beading for at least 6 months.

This was very interesting and spot on. I have lost count the number of KZfaq presentations that I have seen where they just gestimate the amount of product to employ, whether it is snow foam, wash shampoo, compound, polish or scratch remover, etc. then they criticise the product or claim that it has limitations against what the manufacturers claims are. It is just the same as those who buy a flat pack, put it together without reading the instructions and wonder why it hasn't turned out as expected. In relation to whether you rinse from the bottom or rinse from the top first. I hear the logic and views of different people. However, I don't see anyone making a tissue wipe test to demonstrate which method removes the most dirt or is the most effective. My view is if you are happy with your routine and it gets the result you wanted. Then that is fine don't listen to the critics, unless they can demonstrate that their way is better than the viewers. I completely agree with you, it depends on what dirt you are tackling light road film, versus mud splash and lumps. I agree what you say that it is personal preference regarding pre-rinsing. Some argue that dirt is different according to location, time of year, time of day, type of driving, now concentrated the dirt is, etc. I have lost count how many times I have heard this argument, but what I seldom hear is what tests were carried out by the product manufacturer! when testing their product. I do wonder when I see a contact wash product used as a contactless foam and then compared to a contactless foam, to then conclude that the contactless foam is better! First thing I consider is what the product manufacturer advise for the best result. Then from my own findings what works best. This was a really interesting presentation and brilliant take on how to approach product use, I loved it, and you speak many a true word.

The mats look useful but maybe not so good for gravel? The plastic looks quite brittle so I would be concerned that when used on say 20mm gravel there would not be enough even support so would result in the mats cracking. Perhaps you could test on gravel in the future?

@@SpeckyMcSporran I appreciate your quick answer! I did not, as the instructions didn’t say so! Do you think it won’t affect it’s performance being in contact with water?
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran Ай бұрын
It shouldn't make any impact as the water can't actually mix with the product without an emulsifier. The water simply helps the wax to spread more evenly without soaking too much into the applicator.

Hi, l have a black laminate worktop beside my sink that's developed a few surface scratches and some faded yellowing around the scraches, I've tried white vinegar/bicarbonate soda but doesn't work, interestingly l wiped on wd40 and it has worked and restored the black sheen but I think it will wash off with warm soapy water, do you think t cut scratch remover would return the original black sheen to the laminate if it was well polished in? Does t cut scratch remover contain a wax ? Thanks m8

I wouldn't recommend something as harsh as T-cut to remove scratches from plastic as it's super aggressive. Try meguiars plast-x instead.

I tried the new fusso on my garage queen at the beginning of this year. I also put fusso 3 month wax over the top the following day, as I have done with the older 12month fusso. It’s definitely more user friendly than the older product. I took my car out over the weekend and found after 1 wash it doesn’t stand up as well to the elements as the older 12month does. Thankfully I still have the older version left.

what I will say is if you actually have surface scratches on your paint, using a polisher will remove them better. It will look identical at first glace when compare to applying by hand but that's only because of the fillers that are inside the SRP. once the wax comes off after a few months, along with the fillers all your scratches will come back. SRP is only slightly abrasive so you will only remove maybe 10% of the scratches and swirls on the paint by hand whereas if you used a machine polisher it will actually remove most of the swirls, permanently. In that instance, it gives massively different results. I think SRP is a fantastic product but I also think of it as a temporary fake polish as the fillers make you think you've removed the scratches when actually 90% of them are still there and will come back and be visible again.

Rinsing from top to bottom or bottom to top, for the few seconds it takes I'm not convinced that it really matters. An extra 15-20 seconds soak time isn't going to make much, if any, difference at all.

@severnsea3924 Ай бұрын
Brilliant, thank you. The thumbnail showed the problem I was having. Explained exactly where I was going wrong and how to fix it. One thing I'm still confused about is how to read the flow rate, as the value quoted in the video are at max setting which typically you would not be using. I have an AVA Smart P60 and the manufacturers quote a flow rate of 6.7L per minute. Isn't this a more important figure, and how would this figure be combined with a product's PIR ratio?
@SpeckyMcSporran
@SpeckyMcSporran Ай бұрын
Flow rates are usually based on an unhindered connection i.e. no nozzle on the end of the gun/lance. As you know, running your pressure washer without a nozzle makes a different sound compared to when you have a nozzle fitted. The flow rate of the snowfoam lance is more important as it already accounts for the change it may make to the flow rate coming from the pressure washer. As for the change in flow rate using the dial, this is not something we can measure easily therefore adjustments would be better made to the chemical dilution while running the lance fully open. I hope this helps.
