I may be a bit pessimistic, but I feel that more are going to the heat friendly fibers because they do wear out much faster and have to be replaced. I personally would rather do just about anything than put heat to any wig. I hated to style my own hair when I had it! So, I prefer regular synthetics, generally, however, I absolutely love Belle Tress fibers! So far I have not had one wear out on me, though I don't wear my wigs every day, but I can't say that about a Raquel Welch wig, unfortunately. Sadly, RW discontinued one of the very best regular synthetic styles, Celebrity, for no reason that makes any sense to me. I loved that style, so close to Editor's Pick. Maybe it lasted too long, who knows? I've pretty much abandoned Raquel Welch because of the clumpy, frizzy mess that even shorter styles end up being after too short of a time with those fibers. I cannot say enough about Belle Tress fibers, though I do wish they'd do a slightly better job on some of their side seams in the mono part styles. Just my humble opinion. (I do adore Shaded Cappuccino, my favorite RW shade, but we have Brown Sugar Sweet Cream from BT so it's all good!) Have a wonderful weekend, Taz. ~Cynthia

Thanks for your thoughts on this Cyn! I feel like if they're goal was to get more sales by replacing wigs more often, they could always do that with regular synthetics as well by weakening the bonds of the fiber or something similar. But only they know the reason, right?! Enjoy your weekend! XOXO

@@TAZSWIGCLOSET Like I said, I'm a little pessimistic, or maybe it's just suspicious. Maybe it's cheaper to produce just one type of fiber or less expensive to produce heat friendly fibers, hard to say. It that's the case, sure would be nice if they'd pass on that savings to the customer!

I own both kinds of fiber from both RW and BT along with many non heat friendly fiber wigs. I love them all ( well…most). I find the colors of the heat friendly to be much more natural looking.

Love these videos, Taz!!! I just wanted to add some of my own experience with the Raquel Welch heat friendly... I've had my Simmer for 2 years now; I wear her every day for work. I am able to bring her back to (almost) brand new every time I wash (conditioning with laundry softener and occasionally using the silicone spray you mention in your video), and then put heat with a straightener back into it! I do this once every couple of weeks when her fibers begin to clump together. I simply put it on my mannequin head, go section by section, slowly straightening with a fine tooth comb and a little bit of heat. After I've straightened, if I so choose, I can then add some wave or curl to it. I kid you not, this is the way I've been doing it for the last 2 years on Simmer, and she has held up SO well for me. It has been my experience that the heat brings life BACK into my wigs, makes their movement like new again. It is my regular wigs (that are not heat friendly) that seem to die quicker than my heat friendly. I only buy heat friendly now for this reason.

What temp are you using on your RW when you do this? I have tried hot comb and straightener and the clumps are driving me crazy! But maybe my heat is too low? I aim 275 to 300 (recommended on the websites)

I’ve only just started wearing wigs for about a month now and I love both Belle Tress and Raquel Welch. Living in a high desert climate (along with hot dry summer weather), I’ve noticed that my Raquel Welch wig is holding up better than my Belle Tress wigs. The Belle Tress fibers became super dry after only about a week of wear. Perhaps the thicker fibers last longer in drier climates? I still love the colors and styles from Belle Tress, though. I haven’t given up on them yet. Taz, thank you so much for all of your reviews, comparisons, and discussions!! They are so helpful! You have easily become one of my favorite resources in my wig journey.💕

Thank you for the evaluation. My experience has been just as you described. Right now, I have only RW or BT wigs but it isn’t for lack of trying others. Just can’t find comparable quality and/or colors. However, I have ended up with mostly straight styles in heat-friendly wigs because I’ve not had much luck using heat on wavy or curly styles. I end up with a style that doesn’t look much like the original (and not in a good way). That experience has made me consider regular synthetic for wavy or curly styles but, so far, they just don’t seem to look as natural and realistic as the heat-friendly wigs. But I will keep trying!!

Great video. I have found heat totally changed the predone curls in Belle Tress, whereas RW curl memory is very strong. You can iron or blow brush the strands to smooth them and it keeps the original wave pattern. But I prefer BT fibers.....not sure which I hate more, the stickiness or flyaways...lol

I really appreciate these comparison videos for style, color, fiber, etc., across brands. They are so helpful! I like the heat friendly fiber because it looks and feels like natural hair AND the color that looks best on me, is only available in this fiber type. I tend to use heat to maintain the fibers, not so much to change the style except to add lift in the front (I have grown to really dislike spending time styling my hair -- I don't want to have to style my wigs, too). All of my wigs are Belle Tress except for a second-hand Raquel Welch, Well Played, I just purchased in Shaded Iced Cafe Latte. Unfortunately, this color, which I thought I would love, doesn't work nearly as well for me as the Mocha with Cream in Belle Tress. My heat friendly Belle Tress wigs are going strong after 8 months with many still looking "like new". Although, I don't wear wigs every day, when I do wear them it is usually for at least 8 hours. Because the Mocha with Cream color works so well on me (and my husband loves it, too) I'm going to be "stuck" with HD fibers for the foreseeable future; I have yet to identify a comparable color in a traditional synthetic fiber wig. Thanks so much for your channel! Please keep the compare and contrast videos coming!

Of all the companies I’ve tried RW makes me the most sad for a two reasons; the clumpiness and the high density. I think RW has amazing styles and THE BEST reds of any wig company but I have to thin every RW I buy and I know that I will have to comb through the wig multiple times a day. BT has fantastic wavy designs and gorgeous blondes but the ends, especially in the back, get BAD so fast. I know wigs aren’t going to last forever but I’ve found the life of BT wavy styles like Caliente or Dalgona worn a day or two a week will only be a few months. I’ve gone back to non heat friendly and my current favorite is JR’s Heidi. I’ve been wearing it 3-5 times a week for over 2 months. I comb through the inside back after each wear, spray it with water, scrunch the curls (while holding upside down) then set it on a wig holder to be worn the next day. It’s still looks brand new. Thank you, Taz, for all your great videos. You’re so knowledgeable and you’ve made my wig wearing so much easier than if I had tried to figure it out myself!

Thanks for the great information. I strongly prefer the heat friendly fibers as being more realistic on me. My bio hair was wavy and not fine. My problem has been finding heat friendly fibers on petite size wigs. Very rare. I love my RW In Charge, but it pushes my ears forward. You HAVE to have a good fit. I would like to try Belle Tress, but afraid of the cap size. "This fits me large" is what I mostly hear. Odd that half of the reviewers have "rare" petite heads.

I have the exact problem. I love belle Tress for its realism and price point, however... I can pull the cap almost half way down my ears, so when I put it where it should be, it is close to my ear and causes a lot of pain. My circumference is normal. Thinking of trying Estetica petite, but some reviews say it is large.

Thanks for yet another great review, Taz! I have a Raquel Welch Limelight in Shaded Wheat, that I use for a quick updo. It tends to clump worse than my go-to Jon Renau heat friendly topper. I’m in agreement with you that JR heat friendly fiber doesn’t hold curl/style very well. I just received a Belle tress topper this week, and I am in love with the fibers! This topper is in Honey Chai Latte, which is great for me in summer. I’m hoping Belle Tress has a color comparable to Jon Renau Malibu Blonde or Shaded Praline for winter, because I think I’ve found my new favorite HF fiber! Thanks again for all you do to help your wig sisters find our best styles 😍❤️😘

I have never been able to make a BT wig look really good past two-three weeks of age. I love them so much so I buy two per month which ends up being about $5000 a year. Worth it for me to always have beautiful hair. The heat does make them look much better but when used on the ends it straightens out the style and I have never been able to successfully restore the curl pattern. I also have never had one that looked good to me after washing despite following all instructions. I never have tangles so that is not the problem. It's just that the ends get kind of "thick" and clumpy after two weeks. After week 2 I will still wear them around the house or up in a bun etc but never to work or social events.

Hi Taz! Great review. I’ve owned both and actually found they last much longer than my JR non heat defiant. Couple of things I have wondered about regarding wig design. Whatever coating is used on regular synthetic, why can’t they simply replace it with a matt finish as opposed to the glossy finished used. The other thing I would like, is to see heat defiant wigs that are long, have the longer lasting regular synthetic on the underpart of the wig, where you don’t see it but tends to tangle. The only reason I buy heat defiant is the realism, generally don’t restyle them. I’ve had pretty good experience with mine. I use JR detangler every time before I put them away and Simply Stylin on occasions as needed. Have a great day!! Thanks again!!❤

Thx, good info. I recently bought Belle Tress Tea Leaf. It's a premium cap wig - hand-tied, lace front, HD. I LOVE it. It fits my 22.5" circumference very comfortably. The fibers are fantastic and I find that they do NOT tangle as much as my regular synthetic fibers, it's surprising. I wore it shopping the other day and it was windy. Combing it out when I got into my car was so easy.. I wear it almost everyday, it has no noticeable flyaways and always looks fabulous. I cut bangs into it and, what can I say, it's my fav. I got it in the beautiful Chocolate w/Caramel color and after summer plan to get it in the darker ginger color. I have not added any heat to it because it's just perfect right out of the box. I will say I have tried BT recently and colours are second to none and look and feel gorgeous for about a week…. This is extremely disappointing as I must wear my wig nearly 24 hours a day and I am not wealthy enough to afford constant replacing. I had Amore Renee of paris wigs that lasted 6 months and still looked ok at replacement. I buy one wig for daily wear and special and one for bed and chores or exercise or outdoor activity etc. I wish the non heat friendly could step up their colour game as RW and BT colours are soooo realistic and beautiful but I’m sorry do NOT last and are a sham for the price you pay. Let’s not forget wigs are so important for those with complete hair loss. I think it’s fabulous that they are a great option for fun and for women to enjoy changing styles etc but your journey is very different than a woman who has limited funds and NEEDS a 24/7 wig

Thanks for the great video. As a newer wig wearer, these comparisons are extremely helpful for me to understand not only how the wig should look and feel but more importantly, what is to be expected from normal wear and tear. I have 2 regular synthetics (neither are my favs) and 3 BT’s! Being so new I have only tried the heat friendly in the Belle Tress and absolutely love them. They get pretty messy on the ends and I’ve been afraid to try heat (don’t want to ruin style and also scared to death). At least seeing this I know my BT girls should behave better when I break down and use my new hot tools air brush. Should I be using a heat protectant or will the Simply Styling suffice? Again thanks for being my mentor (hero) in this journey. Without me watching your videos, I may not have ever took the leap! ☺️

Ok 3rd attempt. LOL This will be lengthy. I've tried several styles in every brand except ROP. I now own RW, BT, JR,EW,Gabor-1style, HM & WigPro. I easily prefer HD over regular synthetic, however I do have 2RW Celebrity, 4 WigPro & HM that I find to be amazing compared to other synthetics that seem to lose their softness, movement & naturalism quickly. I've not had the issues of clumpiness, stringy or short life span that I hear so much about, however I'm anal about my wig care routine & it's different from othets, but its a combination of parts of care routines I found and took to form my own. Im just sharing what has worked for me. All my wigs except 6 are about a year old. Some HD some not. I My necks very long, so wigs that go past many peoples shoulders just brushes mine or is a couple inches psst, which helps. For my few long ones, they Don't get worn as often & I do something that practically eliminates tangles. From the time a wig arrives, I never cold soak, spray w/Simply Stylin lightly all over but concentrate on the nape & ends. Let dry, then take the nape in sections, wrap a dryer sheet around the section & slide it all the way down from root to ends. If longer than 5in. & not a very light density I use a technique on just the nape if not past 6 in all over if longer & normal to thick density, that almost eliminates tangles, but for almost all my wigs I don't need to do this. I do the Simply Stylin each night on the nape & ends, every few nights/wears all over after first misting w/water to refresh. I use styling products almost never & only 2 will I use sparing!y( the next day, if needed often I'll spritz w/water to reactivate. I wash as little as possible, approx.14 wears depending on length & other factors. I never comb except at night or before washing. If it needs fluffing, After first running my fingers through & fluffing with my fingers, I then use just the tips to fluff/comb lightyly. I wash using a little fabric softer & Simply Stylin as a leave in conditionser.. For my regular conditioner I use a LIGHT coating of Bambu silicon, (KEEP OFF OF THE MONO TOP AND LACE FRONTS) leave it on just a min or two & rinse well. After dry if need be I will spray all over, but always the nape and ends. I will every wash apply heat to just the ends on HD. Once every 2 months I do a deep conditioning with Bambu silicon (NOT Bambu Silicon clean scent) If fibers are still doing well after washing I coat all the fibers(AGAIN NOT ON MONOTOPS/PARTS OR LACE FRONT) leave on for 1hr, rinse well, not excessive but enough so its not going to look greasy. The Bambu Silicon is fragrant, so I use Beautimarks Purify Spray, it's an odor eliminator(available at Wig Studio 1 or Amazon) after its dry. It uses natural ingredients to eliminate odors & works great for in between washes if I'm around something that left an odor on my wig& I don't want the extra wear & tear of washing. Great in hot weather if you sweat, to spray inside the cap& it doesn't take much at all. If a wig is starting to not fell soft, move naturally etc., I do a deep conditioning with Silicon Mix (NOT BAMBU SILICON) , this is very fragrant but works MUCH better than the Bambu. I apply the same way but NO LONGER THAN A COUPLE HOURS TO OVERNIGHT IF YOU APPLY IT EARLY EVENING, otherwise it can relax curls too much & eliminate waves. IMPORTANT: When applying for a deep conditioning, after it's applied, place all of the wig except the cap into a ziplock bag & close all th way over snug against the roots, leaving the cap out until it's done conditioning and ready to rinse. The reviews talk about how amazing it brought a wig back to life. I have used these steps and a year later, even my wig for doing work, is beautiful. The method for eliminating tangles that I mentioned is SO effective but didn't want to share without your ok Taz, or I could just give the name of the channel. The 2 silicon products are also available on Amazon. I don't mind the flyaways, A lip extra maintenance etc for what's in my mind, more realism. I will say the 2 silicone really help the regular synthetic to be softer and keep it feeling, moving and looking more natural. Im also very gentle with my wigs, I store them almost exacty the way they came, always shielded from anything in thr air, even in my home, dust etc Unless they are drying they are in their box until the next wear. At the end of the day, my personal experience is that HD looks feels, moves more natural. Thanks for doing this video Taz! Its a never ending topic that you present in a very constructive way! Many blessings my friend and much love. 😍 💝🎉🎉😍

I don’t yet have any RW pieces but have a few BT. As someone who loves light, bright blondes, I personally feel you can’t beat the look of the heat friendly fibre. It helps keep these colours look very natural by also eliminating that shine known to synthetic pieces. For that alone I would put up with the maintenance on such colours. Regarding fly always, I also experience that with Noriko synthetic so find it annoying either way hehe. I find the BT does tend to gum together after several wears but I do avoid washing for as long as possible… I haven’t yet tried a blonde, but for synthetic, have found Estetica to be impressive for a realistic look.

My only synthetic wig Cameron Lite was in bad shape in just a few months. You can’t use heat on them and it started to show a lot of breakage midway down the shaft and then the remaining fiber would curl up…. I had no idea how to fix this and ended up giving up on it. I much prefer heat friendly fiber. You can work with it and get the maximum amount of wear from them.

Thank you for your comparison videos. I have had better experience with RW heat friendly fiber than Belletress. My Bona vita ends became a course ragged mess , after 10 days of wear and no amount of silicone spray or leave in conditioner helped…Very disappointed. I have worn 2 of my RW similar length styles for same amount of time or longer and I have yet to experience this issue

Great info Taz! Totally confirms my experience with Raquel Welch heat friendly...gets very frizzed up quickly at collar and fibers on the entire wig have a tendency to clump together so I feel the need to brush or comb it constantly to prevent it from looking clumpy and wiggy. Problem is I find Raquel Welch has the most up to date and fun styles. I looked at Belle Tress wigs and the styling doesn't seem to compare. Can you suggest a brand that has fibers similar to Belle Tress and styling more like Raquel Welch?

Interesting that you see RW as more current. Not sure how old you are but as a young wig wearer who keeps up with trends, BT is much, much more current. There is only one, maybe two, RW styles I would wear. They skew older Imo.

For sure the fly aways with BT cafe chic but intensity none. I did put some seasalt spray on it though. I am hoping the .longevity will be good due to their being short. I am not sure which heat to apply to them after washung.

I don’t find flyaways occur on my Belle Tress Calliente, that is my daily wear at present. I use heat on it every night to revive because it’s getting old. I still love it. My Editors Pick lasted a week, then it was a frizzy mess. I was new to wigs and didn’t have the tools or skill to revive it. I’ve never bought another heat friendly RW. I’m looking at RW HH now. Wish Princessa Chardonnay was subtly rooted.

Very informative Taz!!! Can you get something out of the oven without the wig being damaged?
@TAZSWIGCLOSET
@TAZSWIGCLOSET 2 жыл бұрын
Most heat friendly fibers are heat resistent up to 350 degrees.. however, most manufacturers recommend 285 degrees for heat styling. Most ovens are hotter than this, so I would not personally risk it:-) XXOXO

The flyaways on Belle Tress is a deal breaker. I have to use heat to get rid of them which degrades the fiber, so it’s the flyaways that decrease the longevity of the piece. It’s a vicious cycle. :(
