@@puppygirlasuka for a moment i thought i was the only player in the entirety of smash to actually like stage hazards. brings some more variety into the fights, and exploiting them feels satisfying. i doubt i would have liked norfair as much without hazards

fr, mementos is arguably the least interesting palace visually except for at the very end (which, yknow, spoiler) but the fact that its more based on how it looks on the main menu as well as the rest of p5's ui made it an incredibly smart play

From what I've heard, it's because they literally copy-pasted the stage from Mario Kart 7 into Smash, and doing that on Switch would have been too difficult/intensive if taken from Mario Kart 8 and too ugly if taken straight from 7

I do ,unironically They just need to make it a bit bigger ,a thing that would rarely evey be good for a stage. Think about it though and you'il understand.

I don't think they "like it" so much as its necessary to keep around to ensure they're still making references to Donkey Kong.

The thing about all of these stages is they usually have super wack blastzones. Thats exactly why WarioWare isnt legal: the blastzones are so close to the stage that practically everything kills you

@@uxie4327 i think those should just be parameters to play around personally. It changes the meta a lot, but that’s kinda the point, it gives greater variety. Imagine Little Mac if he doesn’t have to always recover from so far away. He can go from being considered one of the easiest to gimp characters to an actual menace. And camping characters? If they camp close to the blast zone, yeah, they may fish for grabs, but they can also get that to backfire too. I just think a few stages could work well for it, and blast zones being closer honestly shouldn’t matter as much as it’s been made out to be for so long. So long as it isn’t way too gigantic for a 1 v 1, a transformation stage, or an actual walk off (or effectively a walk off, like King of Fighters Stadium), I think it should be possible to be legal Hazardless stages like: Unova Pokémon League Mementos Spring Stadium (do we really think those techable ceiling things are that big of a problem??) WarioWare Maybe even things like Pirate Ship or Great Bay. I just think gimmicks like slightly closer blast zones, odd layouts, or even swimming aren’t nearly so “unbalanced” that a new meta that’s some sort of hybrid between the current competitive meta and the casual meta couldn’t evolve around them.

I don't think we need more competitive stages used, but I do think there should be more appreciation toward casual smash. It's so fun. I wanna see tournaments with casual rules.

@@Diamond_Aura Pirate Ship hazardless isn’t hazardless, there’s an OHKO hazard at the front of the boat. Also pretty sure competitive uses/used Unova Pokémon League? At the end of the day it’s a practicality problem. A lot of hazards off stages in SSBU would have been on the legal stage list of any other game in a heartbeat, but at a certain point there’s just... too many. Players have to pick the stages at the start of each round - if you have a legal stage list 10x the size of any other smash game, that’s gonna add hours to your tournament run time.

@@snuffysam I see the boat OHKO about as situational as a missed tech on the Town and City platforms as they move out. And I don’t consider swimming in general to be that big of a deal. My main point is just that when so many of us only play competitive, I’d like more “competitive” players to be willing to have more tournaments with at least *slightly* more odd or even dangerous stages. Don’t have to do Big Blue or anything lol, I just would like more stages to be normalized, because it would add fun and adaptability both to the players and the viewers.

not really that bad. they just chose to have each house in each area. black eagles in the reception hall, blue lions in the marketplace, golden deer on the bridge, and faculty members (and flayn) in the chapel. my only gripe is the black eagle representation. just for a comparison dedue is the number two to dimitri, while ingrid is a childhood friend, so having them representing the blue lions alongside him makes perfect sense hilda and lorenz are claudes closest associates, and both of them regularly speak up in planning. hilda is also the one taking the retainer role post time skip, and is shown to be extremely loyal seteth works directly under rhea, and deals with important jobs the archbishop would be too busy to do, and while flayn is not an employee, she is family, and all three of them have a special connection then we come to the black eagles. sure, dorothea and petra are rather popular, but they are ultimately unimportant in the plot, and seem to only further the connection of the BE as the "waifu house". hubert and ferdinand have much closer ties to edelgard, one being her dedicated servant, and the other being the future prime minister of the empire, and edelgards staunchest critic. IMO, they are more deserving of representing the black eagles instead of dorothea and petra
