Man is living the dream. As a teen I used to drool over the Alpine Catalogue I got from my uncle, fantasising of getting a set of Type R’s and a V12 Amp. I don’t know how i found your channel, but I’m loving all the old subs.

My brother had a 12" type r (little newer than the 1 you have on this video 500wrms version)paired with the mrv500 amp in a pretty nice ported box. I loved it tbh. I had gotten a cerwin vega vmax with an ok prefab box and an alpine mrp500 amp. His was louder than mine. The alpine had the tight punchy bass while my vmax had the low wide bass. Liked both the systems

I believe the V1 type R was released somewhere in 99 or 2000.

Love the v2s i have a 10in dual 2 ohm one they go for 300 used on ebay and stuff ill never sell it they are solid subs

Springfield speaker works used to make a recone kit avaliable on ebay i used to recone these

I just had a type r that stopped. No smell, no coil run, no ohm. Going to attempt at taking it apart. Don't know where to buy parts yet though

I've heard the v2s in a prefab and in a custom box they slapped in the custom box

I have a v2 12" in my games room, run by a pioneer 8701, sealed box, sounds decent

I hope you use better glue than alpine did. They peel easier than painters tape

Got a type r12 v1 it slammmms got 1 in a ported box but needs the surround reglued, thankfully I caught it so it didn’t blow. Wanna get another and make a nice box for them or I could baffle them in the trunk. Beautiful sub V1 is simple but effective. P.s. I don’t like the rolled surround anyway is it comparably better or worse?

Iv had a sleww of r 10s and 12s lol they do ok but never seem to last but i haven't banged a 15r yet

Do those head phones ever get hot?
