Comparison is exhausting. It sinks your joy. There will always be someone that has something better than you.

But it's like you were never meant to compare yourself but your environment or people made you do it.. 😞.. It sucks so bad..

Comparison is toxic and from a Christian perspective is one way of not trusting God's ways and what he wants of us. What an awesome advice from this Gentleman.

"And of course your life will be so miserable if you just compare yourself to differente people at their perfect side. That's way that everytime when I believe that my life is miserable I tried to see things from more angles, and honestly everytime when I do this I realise that there is something I can be greatful for"

This insight and advice was profoundly helpful. I have been so exhausted of comparing myself with others and what others value. I feel like I could be aware of anything else and it has become a profound issue. But I have to learn to be more aware of my own values, "wins", growth. i think if you practice asking yourself those 2 questions everyday (what did you learn? What did you improve?) your life will profoundly improve as you are more aware of your own successes and positive qualities instead of others'.

Comparison has been imbibed in our core when parents say, "After 10 years you will see Mr Neighbour's son in BMW and owning a big house. How will you feel then...."

Great talk! I never thought about how we compare ourselves to the .01 percent. It's true. It's a type of madness.

I loved this video! As someone in their late 20's, at the absoloute peak of comparison to everyone around them in their lives, this really spoke so true to me. Anyone know does this guy have social media/ links to other talks he did? i cant find anything online about him!

Comparing peoples here in Indonesia are common, even in the family parent could compare their childrens which kids are the best in everything and parent would treat this kid better than others kids who are in their opninion just average, this could create envy and traumatic experience, but seems no one care about this problem, maybe human enjoy watching someone feel bad about themselves, it makes them feel better.

Comparison is a major way we learn. We are born learners. We learn significantly by observation. What is someone doing, what’s the result, can I learn this. It’s a huge part of our development. A lifelong skill. Why do you think U tube is probably the number 1 place for learning new stuff. The joy of watching an expert perform! Mentoring. Coaching. Of course it’s a double edged sword. Growing up in dysfunctional homes( all are on a sliding scale) we start using our fantastic skill in a negative way usually to conform. The education system, social media, advertising all programme us in “a negative comparison culture. This stifles our creativity. But let’s not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Use our “comparison” skills wisely with awareness to benefit ourselves and others.

Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, and Michael Schumacher are 3 different Michaels with different paths. Sometimes people compare themselves with other people who are not on the same path. It becomes toxic. "Stay in your own lane" is a common saying to tell people: "Hey, you are unique too! Don't shortchange yourself by comparing yourself to other people. You have your own uniqueness. Stay true to yourself."
