Whyyy? Why did you put bbq on them with out trying them first. The point of this test is to compare the rubs.

+xXTitanfallXx very fair point, in this case since these are all competition rubs, I went ahead and sauced them since I've never seen anyone serve (or at least win) with dry ribs, and my family just likes them wet better. Although in the future I think I will be doing more dry ribs in videos. Thanks for the comment and for watching my friend, keep bbqing!

I like your videos keep making more. Love the bar. I have the same two grills you have and a okj Hightland. I mostly use the smoke pro cause of convenience. But the best food comes out of the stick burner. I never been to a competition. Maybe one day.

Competiton rubs on some ribs with some BBQ sauce from a gas station food mart? Skip the video and get some killer hogs rub, get some killer hogs suace too ( not available at gas stations).

+Shannon Abbott thanks man! Absolutely recommend it, just picked it up. 6 racks, 8 hooks plus a rib rack. I got the wide version and it has completely replaced my horizontal offset smoker. The only thing I would like is a larger fire box and charcoal basket. I have to. Refill it about every 1.5 to 2 hours. Shannon Abbott not a bad price on them either and you getting quite a bit of space and the six racks and it comes with a rib rack as well as there's some hooks on top underneath that can be used for hanging ribs as well.. I got a short one minute video kind of looking at the Box you can modify it make it your own you know Cheers bud

I agree with everyone else . Why on earth did he sauce them and butter and sugar them. He knows what he’s doing on the grill without a doubt but if your trying to compare rubs you have to taste before the sauce and sugar in the foil packs. Good video I quess. Funny guy for sure

Out of what rubs you had, Killer Hogs is the only one I have ever tried. So, I was curious to your results. Some rubs that I have tried and like are: GQue BBQ The Rub, Kosmo Q Dirty Bird and his Pecan Rub, John Henry's Pecan Rub, Oakridge BBQ Dominator Sweet Rib Rub, Swine Life Mississippi Grind, and Heath Riles BBQ Sweet Rub, and Heaven made products It's impossible Texas Rib rub.

he must have bad taste buds since Killer Hogs is the most bland rub I've ever used and even Malcom Reed doesn't use his rub that way..he loads the ribs up first with his AP seasoning ,.. Salt pepper garlic PLUS MSG and then puts on that rub.. How did that rub do in Memphis in May 2022? can we say 42 in ribs lol

good job but I agree with others, by applying sauce you are now judging which rub goes best with that sauce...not just overall rub.....with the right mixture any of those rubs would win on any day

ive never seen a rib rub review at a comp , have you?...to me this was a rub review not a competition review, or you would have had 1 rub and multiple competitions instead of 4 rubs at your house.....you do you, I just think its an idiotic way to test a rub

Hey man. I liked your video and read the comments below so I wouldn't ask the same question! I understand your logic with the sauce now. I am from Mississippi and just down the road from Malcom Reed. I don't use any of his sauces or seasoning because they are full of MSG. It is a man made chemical that has no place in human food. I have tried to ask him on several occasions as to why he does this but he won't answer me. Im not a health nut or anything but try to keep as much useless chemicals like MSG and high fructose corn syrup out of my diet if I can help it. I agree his rub has a dark rich color to it that a lot of rubs lack. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!! New sub here!!

+Jspell thanks so much for watching and the thoughtful comment! I agree that MSG shouldn't be in our food, but can't argue with the flavor, lol. I actually have started taking note of which rubs include it and I called them out in my last video (the sweet rubs). I'll be sure to always let people know when it's present. It's Incredible, kosmos Q and Meat Church. They are all better. Kosmos Q competition bbq sauce is the best.

Gotta a question bro. Killer Hogs rub gives a nice mohagany/red color, its one of its best features in my opinion. How much did appearance influence your decision? Thx man!

When in comes to competition cooking, the judges are looking for 3 things: Taste, Texture, and Appearance. So appearance was basically 1/3 of my criteria. Thanks for watching and commenting brother!

It’s called layers. With a good rib you can taste both layers... and both layers should complement each other. You can ruin a rib if your rub and glaze are not complementary.

Angel Smith - butter will burn. Parkway is partially hydrogenated, which means a higher burn point as well as it stays liquid.

Ive tried Rib Tickler and the Killer Hogs rub. Killer hogs rub might be the worst rub I have ever used, there is absolutely no flavor. It is all paprika.
