Lets be frank the real detriment to pikes is their abyssal boxing option 4 pikes in a easterling box and resin for dol amroth. Isengard is the only real pike boys here.

Hahaha True! It did hurt me when i made my pike blocks for them, and i still cry inside when i see a true uruk block on the table! They hit hard! Thanks for the comment!

In the 3-600 point range I prefer to knock the last row off my pike block so I can include a triad of kataphracti in the same warband. It helps with Malestrome deployments and saves a few points to spend on casters and now dragon cultists

Thats great advice! Of course the lower the points you play the more you have to optimise where the points you spend go!

Thanks for this SW. How would you adapt/change these tips and tactics for an Easterling Battle Company. (I'm currently modelling and painting one to play against my son). Any thoughts suggestions would be much appreciated. especially with how to use IPs as you progress through several scenarios and build up the company's experience. Paul

If I have a row of Black dragons with pikes on the third row of my pike block does that mean that the entire block of Warriors now have fight 4 eventhough only the third row is composed of black dragons with that bonus?

It does indeed! So long as the black dragon is supporting the fight the whole combat will go off his FV :D add the Emperor in there and you have a FV 6 phalanx ;)

Easterlings are glass cannon. They want Amdur and many Dragon Knights (3-4), infantry is only for objectives.
