Did you know that Rolf Harris recently passed away and that his daughter changed her surname because of the many allegations against him? Before his recent death at the age of 93, Rolf Harris was a British entertainer who had a long and varied career in the entertainment industry. He was a singer, songwriter, musician, artist, and television presenter, and had been a popular figure in the UK for many years. Sadly, the legacy of the man was greatly impacted by the controversy that began surrounding him in the past decade. This controversy is related to the fact that Rolf was secretly a child predator.

Rolf Harris was an Australian-British musician, entertainer, and television personality who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on March 30, 1930, in Perth, Western Australia, and began his career as a musician, playing the didgeridoo and other instruments. Harris became a regular on British television in the 1960s, hosting his own variety shows and appearing on programs such as "The Benny Hill Show." He was known for his musical performances and his ability to create art on the spot, often using unusual materials such as a wobble board or his own hands. He also had a number of hit songs, including "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" and "Two Little Boys."
In the 1980s and 1990s, Harris continued to work in television and music, but his public image began to suffer as rumors of his inappropriate behavior with underage girls circulated. In 2014, Harris was charged with a number of sexual offenses, including indecent assault and child pornography. He was found guilty on twelve counts of indecent assault in 2014 and sentenced to five years and nine months in prison. Since his conviction, Harris's reputation has been severely damaged, and many of his honors and awards have been rescinded. He has also faced additional charges of sexual assault, but these were later dropped. Harris was released from prison in 2017, but his career never recovered, and he largely stayed out of the public eye up until his recent death.
With Rolf’s recent passing, the former star’s daughter has spoken out about how her father’s strange legacy has affected her. Join Facts Verse as Rolf Harris’ daughter speaks out after his death.

A few omissions here that need to be rectified. The first charge at the trial, that Rolf had assaulted an eight-year old at Leigh Park community centre in 1969, was overturned in 2017. This was due to new evidence obtained by private investigators which showed conclusively that Rolf had never visited the community centre or met the complainant! This information came partly from the child’s stepfather, who couldn’t understand why his stepdaughter was making this claim, as well as other local residents who’d lived in the area all their lives and had never seen any sign of Harris there! Disturbingly, the police had been given this info by the stepfather before the trial, but had failed to take a signed statement for reasons best known to themselves. Rolf faced two further trials at which seven new charges were brought against him. He was now employing the private investigators and a new defence consul. As a result, the charges were investigated thoroughly- which the police had failed to do - and he was acquitted of all of them. It’s a reasonable supposition that if he’d had the defence team for the first trial that he’d had for the other two, he’d never have been found guilty of anything. The head of the private investigators has written a book about the trials which you can find on Amazon. It should be read by anyone who wants to know the real truth of the sorry business!

Bluescope Steel had an Australian wide promotion of the company in which customers were invited to attend in every capital city many years ago. They got a number of well known artists to do a painting on Colorbond steel. It was billed as ART ON STEEL. There were a limited number of 100 copies by each artist. Rolf Harris was one of the artists. His painting was very clever. He used a piece of satinline Colorbond ( the steel sheet was not flat, it was rolled with a small V shape across the whole surface). The amazing thing that Rolf achieved was that if you looked at his painting from the left hand side and then looked at it from the right hand side, one saw an entirely different painting. It was genius. I would have purchased one of 100 however Bluescope offered a different artists work for sale in each different city. The show I attended was in Brisbane, and the artist offered in Brisbane was Pro Hart. I own a copy 33/100 of that painting called “The South Mine “ at Broken Hill. An artist friend of mine told me that the frame would cost more than I paid for the painting. I love my South Mine BUT I would have dearly loved to have had one of Rolf Harris paintings it really was brilliant. I was so sad that his great career ended as it did. It was a sad ending for a brilliantly talented man. If he was guilty, he got what he deserved. If he was innocent as many say, it was a crying shame.

His conviction regarding the allegation from the youngest complainant was quashed, as it was proven it could not have happened. The court of appeal sadly refused a retrial on the other conviction, even though the Judge in the original trial directed the jury that they could use evidence from one allegation to support the others. I think he should have at least been given a retrial - the evidence was not particularly strong. If one accusation was false - it's possible that others were too.

When Rolf Harris is mentioned, I also think of Oscar Wilde. He upset someone in a ''high'' position and suffered for it. I wonder therefore, who Rolf Harris upset, that such a concerted witch hunt was perpetrated against him. The fact that one of his convictions was dismissed as unsafe, throws doubt on the rest, BUT he was prohibited from bringing those before a court of appeal. Perhaps the establishment didn't want to risk the remainder being dismissed? .

The song "Two Little Boys" was not about two soldier friends in the First World War, as we didn't have "ranks so blue" horse soldiers att that time! Honestly, I do not know what to think about the charges. Certainly those that were close friends with Mr Harris, of which I know a few, in his younger years describe a very different person than that portrayed in court. I did not know him personally or any victim so I have a "viewer" memory that is now at odds with the official truth and a shock to all that I perceived for decades. @@JohnSmith-su3ze I agree it was a set-up, but the question I’ve been asking myself is what was it intended to divert our attention away from? I think it’s a reasonable guess that the tabloid media was looking for a story that would take the focus away from their own phone-hacking scandal which had been rumbling on for years (including tapping into the messages on a murdered teenager’s phone, which had aroused indignation and caused the collapse of a long-running Sunday paper) and the scandal around Rolf and other celebrities was the ideal headline-grabber to achieve this and boost their circulations again! We know the government had a connection with the tabloids (one of the figures in the phone-hacking trial had been on the then-prime minister’s staff) and therefore they’d be willing to go along with this. Surely it’s no coincidence that the phone-hacking trial was ongoing at the same time as Rolf’s? A very dirty business, in my opinion.

I grew up watching and enjoying Rolf Harris's talent's and indeed met him once in Hounslow Middlesex when I was a milkman. He was an absolute gentleman. I'm firmly of the belief that he was the victim of accusational gold diggers whom proliferated and targeted numerous celebrities after the Jimmy Saville scandal was revealed. What was exceptable behaviour by celebrities in the 60s and 70s was deemed unacceptable by the naughties generation and these celebrities became easy to alledge hard to defend targets for some people whom remembered a brief encounter with a celebrity. I've worked on a holiday camp in Torquay and witnessed first hand how young teenage girls would literally throw themselves at the entertainment staff whom being only human were happy to indulge them. The likes of radio 1 DJs also had girls flirting and attention seeking at the roadshows in the 70s. Being young men they will have been subjected to tremendous temptation. I was pleased that Mr Dave Lee Travis was able to defend him self against this pernicious crap as was Sir Cliff Richard. I'm hold the view that Rolf was a victim of poisoned accusations from which he was unable to defend himself. Others may disagree with me as they are free to do as I respect their point of view. In your video you showed a Spike Milligan send up of Opportunity Knocks and not the original.

He didn’t commit the crimes he was charged with. If you haven’t read the book by the private investigator whose team gathered the evidence that helped to secure his acquittal at his second and third trials, then you should do so now. One alleged victim who certainly won’t be living a joyful life is Wendy Rosher, whose claim at the first trial of having been assaulted at the age of seven was overturned after Harris’s new team established he’d never met her (AND that the police investigators had known this before the first trial but had kept quiet about it!) Ms Rosher died several years later. It’s a sad story, but also a sordid story of greed and corruption, made possible by the world we live in now.

@@gregorypope602 You are blind to the reality of people who were assaulted by him, you are basing your criticism on a doubt which, if it had any merit, the weight of charges leveled against him would have been proven false, so where is the evidence in anything that you have said which concludes beyond reasonable doubt that the charges leveled against him are false. True ignorance is not the absence of knowledge but the refusal to acquire it. Seriously, your comment is naive in the extreme, a "Private Investigator's" opinion doesn't carry the presumption of innocence to any meaningful conclusion just because the veracity of one particular account by one particular witness is scrutinized by him and discredited. An acquittal means that according to the language of the laws used in and applied to the case, certain parameters needed to be complied with in order for the charges to be upheld, that doesn't mean that he is innocent, it just means that the language of the law has certain requirements which need to be met by compliance with those parameters. When multiple witnesses come forward who have no historical connection other than the one point of focus which is entirely centred on Harris's lascivious lusts, and they are all providing first hand accounts of shared experiences that match, and which cannot all be discredited with finality, then the certainty of his guilt is carried by the weight of that personal evidence provided by those witnesses. So unless you are calling all those witnesses liars who have for some outlandish reason fomented some hysterical conspiracy against Harris just to make him look like a pedophile, you really need to consider why your personal need to protect Harris's reputation is such a feature in your life. Seriously, you think the "present state of the World we live in with all its attendant greed and corruption" has compelled a group of people to humiliate themselves by creating a fictitious story of having been s*xually molested just to tear down a prominent entertainment personality with something as filthy and diabolical as Pedophelia, for personal financial gain....!?!?!?!? @gregorypope602
@gregorypope602 10 ай бұрын
@@nicolasrose3064 Thanks for your reply, it gave me a good laugh! 😊. I’m afraid you’re using a great many unnecessary words to state what’s essentially a very simple (and if I may say so, naive) opinion: “These people didn’t know each other, why would they make it all up just because one of them was proved to have done so, and about such a disgusting subject? You can’t believe they would do that just because private detectives say they would, do you?” Again, you really do need to read the private detective’s book on the subject, even though I suspect you won’t! The first point which you need to grasp is that the fact the first charge on the sheet even made it to the trial showed the incompetence of the police investigators handling the case. A statement by the complainant’s stepfather that his stepdaughter had never met Harris, who had never been to the location in question, should’ve been enough to disqualify the accusation from further consideration. However, the police chose to ignore this and instead rely on a statement from a known local petty criminal and fantasist to bolster their case. So that’s the first thing you need to understand- the police were failing to do their job properly and carry out a thorough, unbiased investigation. Instead they were affected, it seems, by ‘confirmation bias’ which made them refuse to consider any detail which showed Harris’s innocence. Therefore it was necessary for a private agency to carry out the work which the police had failed to do. Unfortunately they weren’t around to do this for Harris’s first trial, but for his second and third trials they did their job superbly. And this brings me to another point you’re trying to make - that all these people who came forward couldn’t all be making it up, could they? I’m afraid that when Rolf’s new defence team started looking into the claims for those second and third trials, that’s exactly what they did find. (Again, the police had failed to do this themselves. ) For example, there was the former hospital patient who claimed Harris had assaulted her on a visit .. and who then went to pieces when she was told a member of staff who had been present in the room with Harris and the patient, and whom she’d thought to be dead by now, was in fact alive and able to say that nothing of the kind had happened! And then there was the claim, by a woman who worked for a local radio station, to have been assaulted by Harris in a taxi on Jesus Green in Cambridge, which was also the site of the allegation made by the woman known as ‘Miss Cambridge’ at the first trial. In fact, this allegation was used to support that of Miss C’s at that trial before it became itself a charge against Harris at the two subsequent trials. However, Rolf’s defence team was again able to show - using testimony from the production team of the Star Ganes show which Rolf had been performing in at the site - that no taxis were used .. and that in any case you wouldn’t need a taxi to travel a distance of no more than 100 yards between a site by a bridge and a swimming pool! So the accusation which had originally been used to support that of Miss Cambridge was itself thoroughly disproved when it was put under scrutiny. I could give on about this for some time - also showing how a “bad character witness” is thoroughly discredited in the book - but what you need to understand is that there are indeed many people who will invent false accusations - either for financial gain, or in the case of folks like the local radio presenter, because they think it’ll give them some degree of authority on a particular issue (Rolf’s defence had said she was trying to position herself as a ‘go to’ figure on the subject of sexual abuse, which was probably correct) and they’re not fussy about the sordid nature of the accusations they’re making! As I said, it’s pity Rolf’s private detectives weren’t around for his first trial, they’d have done as excellent a job on that one as they did for the other two. I think they could’ve made a great deal of the fact that Rolf’s name as the subject of an investigation into the initial allegations against him, by the woman he’d had a consensual affair with for around 10 years, was leaked to the media well ahead of the time it was supposed to be permissible to do so. Of course, this provided an incentive for others to come forward .. such as the Australian actress whose partner was ready to provide testimony that she’d lied, only for her to accuse him of assault before he could do this … Wendy Rosher of Leigh Park, whose own stepfather refuted her claiim … and ‘Miss Cambridge’ whose supporting story by the local radio presenter was itself disproved at the later trials. In fact, the whole case against Harris has been shown to be so flimsy that it’s a wonder that people like you continue to so passionately support it. Of course, real sexual assault is a terrible thing which should never be countenanced … but neither should false allegations whose credibility fall apart when, or if, you take the trouble to examine them and to test them. That’s what “getting real” is all about! 😊

@@philipjones9458 Think you all need to read “Rolf Harris: the Defence Team’s Special Investigator reveals the Truth behind the Trials” by William Merritt, whose private investigation team secured the evidence that helped to acquit Rolf of all charges at his second and third trials, and to overturn the charge from the first trial of assaulting a seven-year old, on the grounds he’d never met the child in question! This was because they’d actually investigated the allegations, whereas the police hadn’t bothered to do so and had even ignored evidence showing Rolf’s innocence.

After the Saville case it seems that anybody can have the finger pointed at them and when the media get their grubby hands on the story, you will be found guilty. Now, whether Harris was actually guilty or not, I do not know but I do feel he was already hung, drawn and quartered because of the furore of the Saville case. One other thing, his artwork was greatly admired but now you could probably buy them for a fraction of their previous worth. They are no lesser masterful paintings because of his conviction, in fact, a self penned doodle by John Lennon would sell for tens of thousands, even though it was nought but a scribble! I remember we queued up outside to get his autograph afterwards and I kept it with all my others for many years. He didn’t commit any crimes. The worst he did was to have a clandestine on-off affair of around 10 years with his friend’s daughter, after she’d reached the age of 18. She was bitter when he ended it and made sure her dad and Rolf’s family knew all about it! When Operation Yewtree blew up, she saw a way of getting revenge on Rolf, whom she’d already tried to blackmail over the affair, and made a series of allegations against him. While Rolf was under investigation, his name was leaked to the Press well ahead of when it should have been permissible to do so, and other accusers jumped on the bandwagon. Since the police were anxious to get a conviction after their previous failures with Bill Roache and Michael Le Vell, they took all the allegations at face value without any proper investigation. After the first of Rolf’s three trials, he employed a new legal team with private detectives to fully investigate the charges at his second and third trials. The evidence that was unearthed helped to acquit Rolf of all the new charges, and afterwards the charge from the first trial of assaulting a seven or eight-year old was overturned, as testimony from the complainant’s stepfather and other local residents showed Rolf had never met the child in question or visited the area where the assault had supposedly occurred! (The police investigators had been told this by the complainant’s stepfather before the trial, but chose to ignore what he said…) I suggest you read the book about Rolf’s trials by the head of the private detectives, it’ll tell you all you need to know!

Let some of those he helped speak out. He entertained millions of people for years and he seemed like a totally genuine lovely guy. I am starting to think men have two brains, one is selfish, not thinking of the situation, wanting to express yourself sexually, a kind of addiction. The other brain is not sexual, and most of the time is reasonable. The difference is being in control, and not being in control. It is about being yourself, it is about merging with Love. It is about knowing who you are, .It is about being in control. It is about controlling sexuality. Some or sometimes we don't make an effort. We give up trying to control our sexuality. Men need to train the other brain, where is this other brain, is it in the prostate or the prostate. I think it sometimes does not work properly, stress, or over exercising it. But this second brain, you have to make it aware of when you are not happy with it, when you find your behaviour will be frowned on, you are not in control. We, well I at least 99% of the time don't give it a second thought, only when my behaviour worries me. The worry, somehow the second brain eventually understands, it is the second brain that has to be controlled. Be patient with your second brain, it will listen to you, just give yourself time, it will understand that you feel uncomfortable, but this control is much easier as you get older and wiser. Our second brain is the first stone. Humanity is not liked, eBook series 'Religion Separates Man From God.'

Never believe the media. I don't care a rat's ass what they say or what they did to Rolf. He was an amazing artist and entertainer and nothing any media will do will ever take that from my childhood and twist it into anything other than the fantastic memory as it remains. He did great things for Australia that should never be forgotten or downplayed. Whether or not he was tempted into something unacceptable should never take away the good. All I hope is, they tanned his hide when he died Clyde and that's it hangin' on the shed.

Harris was a much loved and admired entertainer for several decades in the UK. Unfortunately his predilection for fondling/groping teenage girls and women...overlooked at the time...rebounded when attitudes changed about 2000. Because the details of the cases were not readily publicised in the public domain its difficult to assess how far his actions were actually gratitious and gross assaults and how far he overstepped the mark.

Just two minutes into this and the clips of Opportunity Knocks are actually from a spoof comedy show starring Spike Milligan, and that isn't Lulu!! And another error. Two Little Boys was a song about the American Civil War. Not WW1.

I would think Rolf Harris was the most talented individual i have ever seen ,he came across as a warm, friendly fun person. The allegations and subsequent convictions were a real shock to me . He was like a favourite uncle figure. Due to perverted sex desires and actions his legacy is now ash . I feel real sympathy for his victims and his family . His daughter has to wrestle with the dad she perceived (i presume the man we all thought we knew) with the horrors of the dark deeds that went on out of site. I wonder how many more people over time should have very different epitaphs written !

The footage being used of Opportunity Knocks was actually footage from Sike Milligan's 1973 show "Milligan in Spring". This skit of the show titled "Criminal Opportunity Knocks"

Ok he was crucified publicly and jailed now everyone wants to despise him . Still he was an artist and creator of many years. I dont know 😕 Being famous ofen means that you will pay for social deviance in a cruel sadistic hard way. He served his time before he died when backs turned away from him leaving him dead before he died . Sort of tragic story

Long live Rolf. My childhood hero. (I was born in Wales in 1954.) 'Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport' was one of my first singles. It had the later banned verse 'Let me Abos go loose, Lou, Let me Abos go loose. They're of no further use, Lou, so let me Abos go loose.' I don't believe any of these accusations. 'Two Little Boys' moved the nation to tears.
