Ls6 rocker arm installation and torque sequence.
This procedure should be used when removing rocker arms so the aluminum threads don't get stripped.

@@miatajackdiy4293 your welcome. While I have your attention. Might I ask is there any vacuume or pressure under the valley cover? My front 2 bolts were not tight at all so I'm going to put a new gasket in there a tighten them. But my truck makes a whistle sound and was woundering if it's possible to be from there

@@flyingmunk8956 Someone else asked the same question. There has to be pressure in there otherwise it wouldn't need a crankcase ventilation system. It's hard to track down random noises but you might want to try snugging the bolts up first and see if it helps. Sometimes if you get a long tube and put it to your ear and listen it can help isolate a noise. Just be careful of moving parts.

@@miatajackdiy4293 yeah the sound was coming from the bottom of the front of driver side intake. I put new intake gaskets and intake on last week( it was warpped anyways) and that was not the sound. I have been in forums and stuff for almost 3 years now trying to find it. The sound is 100% after the intake. And nobody has any ideal what the whistle sound is

I’ve always loaded the full rail with rockers without rotating for spring relief, and went straight to torque specs. With aftermarket adjustable I see doing a spring relief, but with oem and all rockers are the same. Just load them all..torque them and roll on.

The whole idea is that if there is spring load on the fastener then you won't get an accurate torque value.

From the looks of your video each cylinder can be done in any order as long as your method is followed?

Would the same process work with a after market cam with more aggressive lift and duration?

I would think it does, this process tells you when the push rod is off the lobe. If the lobe is taller I don't think it would matter.

So, I removed the rockers before seeing this video. I didn’t follow any method, just loosened and took em off. What kind of issues could this cause?

I don't think taking g them off affects anything. It's about getting the torque right when installing.

What does it mean when it's compressing the spring as i tighten it?? My understanding is there should be no spring compression when tightening. But mine starts compressing the spring

You don't have the cam in the right place. Tighten rocker until it's just touching the valve, then rotate crank. You'll see the rocker push the valve down and then come back up, when the rocker stops moving rotate a couple more degrees and torque rocker

Is there any difference between the intake rocker and the exhaust rocker arm, or can they interchange positions?

I'm not sure, I think they are all the same but I kept them in order just to make sure.

No,some rockers,the intake rocker have an offset really depends on brand

What this procedure does is remove any pressure from the spring so the torque value is accurate when tightening g the nut. I'm sure the concept is the same for the LT but I don't know for sure. Probably different torque to.

@@miatajackdiy4293 cuz i install mine but my truck won’t start just cranks thats why I think i did it wrong i was trying to get help but nobody responds i did a head gasket replace cuz it was over heating

@vkchikom3187 Not sure. I know some guys just torque the rockers down without releasing the spring pressure and are good with that.
