Pulling the 6.0 engine, transmission, and transfer case out of a 2002 Yukon XL Denali to be sold in parts. This one fought me a bit coming out but they can't all go smoothly. May not be the best way but this is how I like to do it.

Good job, Jason. I'm currently in the process of swapping the engine and transmission between two 2002 Suburban's sitting at the bottom of my driveway. My original Suburban had a perfect interior, engine and transmission, but the entire frame is swiss cheese (thanks to New Jersey winters). Incredibly, I found (and bought) another Suburban that had a blown engine with a trashed interior, but an excellent frame and body. So, in addition to the engine and trans, I'm also swapping out the complete interior, steering column, rear differential, hood, rear liftgate, and doors. My wife and family think I'm nuts, but I don't care, I'm having a lot of fun!

Thanks for this video, Jason! It's beneficial and informative because I'm preparing to do my first LS swap, working by myself, using the same tools as you, and doing it in my home garage. Would you please make a brief video on what is involved in re-flashing a computer module, de-activating the anti-theft feature, and understanding the right power wires to connect for the first start?

I'm glad it was helpful John! Yes I absolutely can do a video, probably 2 videos, on re-flashing the computer to remove the anti theft and another on which wires need power to start the engine!

Relying solely on jack stands to support the autos weight is a safety no,no and should be backed up by a secondary fail safe.those stands fail all the time.

I've been taught since I started working on cars that jack stands as the fail safe to a jack are the preferred method.

@@MohawkMotors I think he means about having them just up on the jack stands after you remove the jack. If I'm working with the tires off of a vehicle I throw them under the frame or maybe a block of wood. At the end of the day we just don't want tragedy to happen to you and the resulting loss to your family.

If you're parting the whole thing out absolutely, you should be able to double your money at least. If you're keeping the engine and/or transmission it will depend on your local market, but you should be able to at least get your money back out of it.

I have a question bro. I have a 81 Caballero 3.8 L V6 that I’m about to LS swap and I want to know how would you do the fuel system. My gas tank is carburetor not efi. I want to add a 87 Monte Carlo SS sending unit instead of buying a conversion kit or I might add an inline fuel pump. I do not want to buy them expensive conversion kits. Hoe would you do it? Please help😂😂😂
@MohawkMotors
@MohawkMotors 10 ай бұрын
I would get an in tank pump like a walbro 350 or walbro 455 and use the factory sending unit. You can cut the original fuel pickup tube in the tank, add a small bead roll/flare to it to help keep a rubber hose on with a clamp and then put the new fuel pump on it. Then get a bulkhead connector for your wiring to pass through the original sending unit also, fuel pump just needs a power and a ground. On the outside of the sending unit just get a hard line to AN adapter fitting in the correct size and use that to connect to your fuel line up to the engine. I'm actually about to do basically the same thing on the squarebody K10 pickup I'm in the process of LS swapping so make sure you check out that video when it goes up in a couple weeks.

How much are Cats of these trucks worth? I bought a 01 Tahoe for my swap and I’m trying to sell everything I won’t be using
@MohawkMotors
@MohawkMotors 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on which cats it has on it, there were 3 different styles GM used, and then it depends on which batch of that style. Scrap prices recently took a dive, and cat prices as well as a result, so they could be worth as little as $20 each, or more. It just depends on which ones they are and what scrap values are at on the day you decide to sell.

Is there no way to just disconnect all electronics from the engine instead of having that cluster f*ck of wires over the engine? Fantastic video otherwise!!! Thanks.
@MohawkMotors
@MohawkMotors Жыл бұрын
There's 3 options really. 1. You can go though and unplug all the sensors, injectors, coils, etc from the engine and leave the harness with the vehicle. 2. You can unplug the harness from the fuse panel (what I did) 3. Cut the harness and leave half on the engine, half on the vehicle. I typically sell my engines complete with harness so I don't cut them and I don't remove them from the engine. The least work required method for me, is to just unplug the engine harness connector from the fuse panel.

I would have liked to have seen why it was so hard to get out, maybe separating the transfer case and leaving it behind? I’m doing this,this week on a Sierra 2500
@MohawkMotors
@MohawkMotors 3 жыл бұрын
@@miketodesco6915 so this was one of my early pulls, since doing this I've figured out a few tricks that make it easier, get the front front differential out all together, get the little bolt in crossmember under the oil pan removed as well, and unbolt the steering gear box and steering idler from the frame and pull the whole steering assembly as far forward as possible - right up against the sway bar. Also there shouldn't be any exhaust on the engine at all except the exhaust manifolds, unbolt the exhaust pipes from the manifold flanges. Doing that gives you wayyyyyyy more space to get the engine, transmission, and transfer case out of the frame as a unit and makes it much easier
