I got 6 Gold Tip Pierce platinums, fletched them all a different way with the "goat tuff fletcher" lol it’s about $40 but works. I actually did do a 2 & a 3 ° degree helical on some 4 fletch and they fly great. My best arrow is my 3 fletch 3° LEFT helical, which I had to do kind of do it by hand because the Fletcher only goes right. So I had to flip the insert and hold it in by hand, it was pretty crazy. Ended up being my most accurate buddy. But this is great content and I recommend everyone get into this process to learn. What are your thoughts on the AAE Max Hunter's??

I've been using a Bohning pro class jig and running a 4 fletch 90/90 with a hard right helical. looking to experiment with 3 fletch for better F.O.C and maybe gain some speed? i have been using wraps as well but going to experiment without. just like the added visibility when retrieving an arrow. total arrow weight is currently 450 grains +/- 3 grains . love the videos, very insightful!

I recently got a new grayling fletching jig, just using aluminum shafts (target shooter here but like watching videos like this) with left degree helical, don't know what degree it's not listed on Lancaster Archery Supply lol 10.3 grains is what I am running per fletching for 3 fletch. Don't really care about FOC but I will be using a light 54 grain point that is coming with the Easton Tribute shafts

Hey folks- KZfaq "1nestly" and see some great slow mo of different fletching set ups. This guy does it so awesome. Uses a shooting machine. And you find that the set and how many vanes isn't that super relevant to great arrow flight. ABT is my thing too and I have used 4 vanes in the past. Even if it's a mind thing that's ok too. 3 deg. left-right, 4 vanes at 1-2 degrees is great if it's what makes u more confident.

Hey guys thanks for the practical video and explaining why you’re doing what you’re doing. Also thanks for stressing that it’s about the journey, that is one of our core beliefs. Question. You said that you run a left helical all the time: have you ever experienced a broadhead trying to rotate out or loosen itself? Heard someone else talk about it. Hoping to get set up for building our own arrows soon and trying to learn. Thanks

I actually have had solid broadheads loosen a touch... Nothing that was concerning but I didn't associate with the helical, maybe that is true... We absolutely wanted to show the process & journey that's what it's all about.. - TC

Just started trying a four fletch with the mini blazers with a 2 degree offset and found them to be more consistent with field points than a 3 degree helical. Also they seemed to perform almost the exact same as a 3 degree helical with a magnus buzzcut stinger attached at 50 in the wind.

I order my arrows from deer crossing arrows and get the silencers(mirco arrows) and I’m using the deep six inserts from iron will weighing 75 grains. For fletchings dca will customize however you want so last year I used 3 blazers this year I’m trying fusion 2.1 4 fletch and they’re a lighter vane and lower profile and from what I’ve read that’s the benefit of 4 fletch you can use smaller low profile vanes and still get the steerage and lower profile benefits when shooting in the wind.

If you are looking for options to see how objectively these different styles shoot, i would be interested to see what the impact of these different fletch configurations have on arrow speed and downrange drop, wind drift and overall accuracy. Rotation happens with friction to the air as the bullets travel, i would suspect that the more they spin the tighter the group, but also the slower they are and drop increases down range

Cut about 2" off the back of the arrow, before you cut off the front. Most variance, even on quality or match grade shafts, are from the ends. It will make a more consistent arrow in my experience.

The video i watched previous to this one he shot a left helical a straight and a right helical and did 3 rounds each at 20 30 50 yards ect and found the ri9ght and straight held the best group and the right helical was overall winner. he hypothesis was tht the left clocking arrows with the left helical spun to fast causing them to go more wonky. i would really like to see you guys test this out! Cause if his theory is right than you just make a left clocking arrow less accurate by adding a 3 degree left fletching. his channel is trippleR woods outdoors. check out the video he did i think you guys recreating it would be awesome

When using the squaring tool it is best to mark the end with a silver Sharpie and then rotate the arrow in the tool until all of the silver mark is gone. It takes many more rotations then was demonstrated in the video to obtain a perfectly square arrow end. Also, I would recommend you square BOTH ends because they are not perfect on the nock end from the factory. Another point: Denatured alcohol or Acetone is best for cleaning carbon dust from inside the arrow prior to gluing your inserts. Rubbing alcohol contains oil and other additives that could interfere with its cleaning abilities and leaves a residue.

Love the content! Not saying you guys did anything wrong but I watched a video where someone was sorting out the vanes by weight because the tolerances weren't great i was surprised at how much variation there was in the pack of vanes. Just a thought to help dial them in even more. The differences get big when you are a 1/2 grain difference on each vane plug nock variance as well as arrow variance and broad heads all adds up in the end.

I am shooting 70lb vs 60lb maybe that's the issue? However, I am going to try the day six arrows with their stainless outsert with collars this summer ordering soon. Odd, i am having the same issue bought 3 dozen FMJ 6mms in the winter time to practice with and weed out the bad ones. I’m down to 18. Have had some explode hitting the target, bend really bad and I’ve lost one or two missing my block target at 140yds. Mostly though I am find they are hitting hard and bending out of true, then they are flying all over the place. I still have 18 good ones, but I get maybe a week out of an arrow shooting every day, then it is toast. Looking to go back to carbon, just not sure what I am going to get. It’s been an expensive year on arrows, I also bought some custom made ones from a local company, build utility is great as are the components, but I am having inserts blow out of the shafts left right and centre on 3D targets, which I am being told is that cause of failure on a hunting grade arrow, hmm. I call BS, as the inserts on some are just popping out of the arrows. Anyways different story. Anyone have a good carbon arrow recommendation for hunting?

I recently bought this same Bohning jig too. I own the LCA jig, Bitz jig and the Aerovane jig too. But for the money this Bohning does VERY well especially keeping the lower and upper corners adhered to the shaft. I have used the 3 degree left, 1 degree left and the straight "clamp" in three and four fletch. They "say" it's and offset but if you look very close at the base of each clamp insert there is actually a twist that is on the very edges that contact the base of the vane hence allowing the vane to wrap the arrow more than just a plain offset. Even the really expensive jigs with strong magnets don't do as good of a job as this one does with keeping a strong hold on the vane while it's drying. The 3 degree left "offset" I did had more helical than my old Bitz jig with an actual helical clamp. I just don't think we would be able to get a full 3 degree offset to adhere "perfectly" to the shaft and have all four corners stuck without having some helical involved...especially with a small .166 shaft. Take a look at those clamp inserts and compare them to the straight one and you'll see what I mean. Great video btw!!
@GBBLGBL
@GBBLGBL 4 жыл бұрын
Also, when changing the jig from back and forth between 3 and 4 fletch that single screw that holds the cap on does not need to be tight. If you back it off 1/4-1/2 turn the dial will turn more smoothly and you can distinguish between the clicks.

Not sure if I missed it but do you nock tune your bare shafts ? I have from 15 yards and they don't fly straight it seems without rotating the nock and reshooting them until they fly straight into the target not slightly off to one side or the other. I think it has something to do with aligning the spine to get the best flight.

I'm having a hard time deciding on what fletcher to try any way you can go into a little more detail about them? Do you need to choose right vs left or can they do both/ certain degrees and such. we used the bohning multi-fletcher for most of this video.. Allows 3 and 4 vanes, with adjustable helical... The AZ multi-fletch is what Dan uses most the time fletch the vanes at once, but you don't get all the adjustability.

Have you guys ever had any issues with left helical unscrewing your field tips or broadheads? I've heard this from multiple people, but I've never tested it myself. This is what drove me to use right helical rather the clocking. Also on a side note, I've found you don't necessarily need a primer pen for AAE vanes. I just use a qtip with some acetone and it works great. Also I'd like to say thanks for all that you guys do with the Elk Shape channel. I greatly appreciate it!

I like a low profile vane like a VaneTec Super Spine or V-Max in a 4 fletch with 2°-3° offset. I also do them in the 90° pattern, the 60° 120° doesn't make sense to me

With a low profile 4 fletch you get less wind drift with the same amount of stability or more compared to a blazer type vane or similar high profile vane in a three fletch. They work great especially for fixed broadheads

I hear this all the time to. That if ur using the AAR vain’s then u absolutely need the primer pen and their glue. If u just use a little bit of sand paper on the bottom of the vain’s then they most definitely will stay on there. 100%. And, u don’t even need to use the primer pen either. So u save money on no primer pen and only five bucks for glue instead of the $15 for the AAE, shit.
