A tip for gnats in your dirt: Before you use the dirt, pop it in the oven on 400 for 5-10 minutes. It will kill anything that happens to be in it :)

Gary, from the rusted garden recommends to either moisten the potting mix or seed starting mix with either boiling water or moisten and microwave the soil. This kills the eggs and gnats. He also recommends sprinkling cinnamon on the top of the soil.

A half-cup of diatomaceous earth in a gallon of water can be misted on your plants and soil as well. Do it just after watering and as it dries, when the gnats try to climb through the soil surface, it begins to slowly shred them from the outside in.
@morugascorpion60214 жыл бұрын
Psycho Rooks but they become larvae first and if there’s too many of them, they can become pests in the soil. I had one large pot filled with lots of organic amendments and fed with compost tea brewed for 24 hrs. It attracted gnats to lay their eggs there and I found them under the surface as I was testing for moisture with my finger...found the soil literally crawling with tiny white larvae, looks similar to pot worms but are smaller.

A quick tip for Nats, put apple cider vinegar in a cup beside your plants and it also works inside your kitchen beside your trashcan. The Nats will dive into the cup of apple cider vinegar then just throw it away.

Congratulations on the new baby! Awesome, very informative, and helpful videos. We are newbies to trying hydroponic gardening during the pandemic... Three weeks growing from seeds and one grafting. Question: do you always put your seeds under the grow-light while in the Rockwool? Do you have seeds germinating inside of the black Hennesey boxes? BTW- smart to use plastic spoons for labels

Another channel placed light 2 inches above seedlings because they said plants would become leggy. But your light seemed farther away and plants didn't get leggy.... so what are the lumens and kelvin of light used so that plants got enough light without burning? if you bought a 2x4 fabric bed to put into that 2x4 tent and filled it with living organic soil, a handful of worms, and buy some predator mites and rove beetles to take care of all your fungus gnats you would get about 10x the harvest.

Congrats on the new addition to the family!! Could you use beneficial nemotodes when watering if you’re not extending the roots down for bottom feeding... also the red lettuce that fell off and died out, was it because of close proximity and wasn’t getting adequate light.
