The PocketStation made it possible to train your character up to level 32 in World Tour, a level that's well beyond what you can do in game. My best friend and I forbid use of WT characters in versus because they were completely broken.

By every possible measurement, the Alpha/Zero series of games shits all over SF3. Gill is a crap character and as a boss can fuck right off.

Yes, I own FFVIII and read about the pocketstation in the manual. I've been looking for that pocketstation in shops before I realised it will not be sold in the EU. 😞 Now I see why it's not sold outside Japan. It doesn't add much to the PSX.

Great video! Doesn't do too much which is why it likely wasn't released worldwide. I could see it being a lot better if Sony tried it during the PS2 era with better hardware/software. I may have missed it but are PocketStation's region locked at all? I literally just got the PS2 memory to PS3 adaptor the other day so it'd be cool to have one (working).

Was the pocket station unable to function with Eng versions of Zero3/Alpha3?

If you use a game shark / Action Replay device, you can re-enable the feature as all the code is still in the game. Capcom just removed the option from the menu. Plus if you do re-enable it, you’ll find it’s all fully translated.

How on earth is our cover art for FF7 worse than the top ones you show? On those it's the symbology for the installment: Meteor, Squall/Tifa, and a giant materia(idr). The FF7 US cover is excellent. It's Cloud and the Shinra building white-washed. For 8 & 9 it's all of the games characters.
