Since in UK live many Poles you can hear at Sunday afternoon rythmical banging of mallets in residential areas. Obviously they prepare pork loin or chicken breast for dinner.

I'm so happy you feature these kinds of videos on traditional foods. I have said it many times, but I am proud that we Central/East Europeans have the best gastronomies bar none. Yes, I know there are many who would argue we have 'fattening' foods/recipes; I think they grew up on ramen noodles and microwaves, and don't know real foods for what they truly are. A nutritious art, and skill in cooking.

We just had some the other day, my wife had her sister and husband over. She made the pork chops and potatoes and I made sweet and sour cabbage which was popular in Polonia in Buffalo N.Y. , This was a favorite Sunday dinner at our home when I was a child, ahh.............the memories thank you for sharing yours with all of us. I must try your version of the sauerkraut slaw it looks so tasteful. My mother's recipe started cooking onion first in some bacon fat, then cabbage, apple, vinegar and sugar and it was cooked slowly for about 30 minutes and stirred a lot.

I am making schabowe today and I learned at least 2 things from your video (I've been making these for years) - definitely going to use the 2 forks method for ALL my breading. I also didn't remember the word "panierka" so I learned a new Polish word! I'm not sure if grandma ever called breading that, but I was very young so I might have forgotten it. I might try to make my own kapusta kiszona so I'll have to look at your recipe! Thank you!

Hello I like your channel a lot. I am 3rd generation polish my grandmother is from Olsztyn. I wanted to ask if you new of a recipe for an apple cake it has a layer of dough on bottom with a can or two of apple filling covered with a layer of meringue made with egg whites and sugar then the remaining dough is grated on the top? I had this in Poland and would love to make it, it’s delicious 😋 thank you for any help !!

Ohh Anna your evil. I’m moving right now and I’m playing your channel in the background, damn frying pan and pots already moved to the new place. Luckily I have a bottle of zubrowka to use as a meat hammer and since there are super cheep in price and quality pots and pans at the dollar store I’m off shopping. You pretty much made-up my mind up as to what I’m having for dinner. Everything you make/cook takes me back 30-35 years back to babcja’s house. Today May 4th 2021 this video was destined as it just happens my parents visited and mamusja brought me 6 jars of smalec she often makes. in my opinion it’s almost a crime to fry schabowe with out smalec. You are an angel Anna.

And another fun fact: Polish (as well as many other CEE recipes, like Czechoslovak, Russian, etc.) dishes often make me feel eerily familiar. And I have no actual Slavic/Eastern European root at all. In fact I'm fully Asian, from China. (From Shanghai to be exact). And I think it's because there's a genre of dishes in Shanghai called Haipai, which would probably mean 'Shanghainese styled western dish' most literally. (It's sort of using the double meaning of the Chinese character 'Hai' I think. On one hand it means 'sea', so probably meaning the 'overseas' influence of those dishes. On the other hand hopefully u see that it's part of the name of the city, Shang Hai). As China eventually opens up to trade with the world and ppl getting a lot more money, especially in Shanghai as it's the largest economic center of the country, I think most ppl are now favoring more 'authentic western' flavors, such as some 'real high end' cuisines (cough, cough, I'm referring to you, yes, the French. And in some ways the British too. 'Queen's sytle' though of course, not fish & chips XD), as well as big American chains, and increasingly, ppl know how to make them as well, from pasta to burgers. However in this Haipai Shanghainese western food, Eastern European ones stood out as one of the only things left and still widely popular (and even deeply ingrained into many of the household cooking), such as the Shanghainese/Chinese Borscht (mostly like Ukraine Borscht but used tomatoes and tomato products, like ketchup instead of sour cream & beets/beet juice to give the reddish color & sour flavor, and occasionally & traditionally, used flour/starch & water technique to make it thicker), as well as, no other than this (deep) fried pork chop dish. One variation is that we like to dip with Worcestershire sauce. (Which I highly recommend as it's delicious. If I remembered correctly the famous A1 steak sauce is sort of similar to Worcestershire sauce so if ppl enjoy steak with their A1s u definitely see u can enjoy pork cutlets with Worcesters!)
