Thanks for this video - the only one on the internet that shows how to take the cap correctly off the detergent bottles. Karcher instructions say "take of the cap" but that could be the black screw cap, and it is not at all obvious that you should pull out the grey bit, since it is quite firmly stuck into the screw cap! I noticed from scanning the internet that a number of people have problems with the cap ("which cap?"). It is time Karcher improved their instructions.

A very well done video only talks about the gadget and not himself etc. Needed these great instructions. I think you covered all the mysteries of operating this Karcher before I buy it. I borrowed one a while back but returned it unused because I hadn't seen this yet and I was intimidated by all the gadgets. THANK YOU

Just bought the K5 but decided to give it a go and watched the full video and this is the only video which answered all the questions I had...apart from the t-racer and the little "screws" underneath,because on the instructions it's not even clear if you have to leave them or take them off...but great video,cristal clear all along

To get the 2 little tubes to fit easier, it helps if you dip them in a glass of warm water first. It soffens them up and than contracts again to a snug fit.

You are using the red 'aqua stop' type hose connector on the pressure washer. This can damage the pump and it's stated in the Karcher manuals that these should NOT be used. You need to use the same connector that is on your tap.

I upgraded from a Halfords PW20 cheapo washer, which was fine for detailing the car, but very cheaply made, to a Karcher K4 compact. I was slightly disappointed as the K4 wasn't actually that much more powerful than the cheapo Halfords washer, and it didn't really feel that much higher quality, despite costing more than double the price. It does have a 3 year guarantee though, and I know the pump is a metal one, so hopefully it will pay for itself by being really reliable and last for years.

Great video, thanks it took me 10 mins to put together. BTW a tip it is easier to attach the clear hoses on the front and screw the cleaner adjustment housing on before you put the handle on, as you have better physical and visual access. Got this at Wickes sale 50% off - the new Full Control ones seem like they would be prone to needless wand electronic complications.

Should water be drawn from the bucket, or should it be connected to the faucet?

Do you want a top tech pressure washer that I picked up from outside someone’s house for free? He told me it doesn’t work and sure enough it really doesn’t work lol! I have tried it and it does switch on but it doesn’t give any pressure just the dribble of water you’d expect when the unit is switched off. It also starts as soon as it’s turned on not when you squeeze the trigger like I think it should. I’ve descaled part of the pump and checked the O rings inside it but I haven’t been able to test it again because I don’t have my own hose yet. I tested it first at my brother in laws house the day I picked it up. I think it’s either electrical because it constantly runs without pressing the trigger or it’s the pump o rings not sealing up or it’s just had it but the motor is working 🤷‍♂️ I’m not well versed on pressure washers but you might be able to make a video out of it? The thing is only worth £60 brand new so it’s not really worth it but it might help someone with a more expensive unit who needs to repair theirs.

Dirt blaster, hold it 30CM from the floor. It DOESN'T have a lot less spray, and it DOESN'T take longer, you are just holding it too close to the floor mate.

My Kärcher K4 keeps pulsating, I’ve changed the pump head, I have no leaks, but when I rum the water through with garden hose it splutters constantly, I noticed air being sucked through detergent hose, when i put my finger over the detergent hose, the spluttering stops from the jetwash hose, release finger and it’s back to spluttering water again. Is there a stop valve something in the detergent compartment because I can hear air being sucked through? Any advice please.

Hi Vince, I got a k3.550 and the motor hums. Changed the capacitor and serviced the seals but to no avail. I also noticed that if a maintain the power,the motor heats up. The motor is a water cooling type. Any idea the cause of the humming? The motor works fine under no load.

Yes, very useful. A general warning, having had to send my machine back to Karcher twice for warranty repairs: you need to run clean water through the machine after using detergent via the dispenser & not leave a detergent bottle in place. Failure to do so results in blockages & broken motors: not something they mention in either their instructions or, curiously, on machines returned for damage repair. I asked the 2nd time & was told that even a tiny bit of Karcher detergent left inside the machine causes damage. Fit for purpose? Well, no!
