I think Toyota are scared of angering mechanics and rarely change anything in a way that would make it harder to work on (so a 2020 model is laid out like a 2010 which is laid out like a 2000 which is laid out like a 1990 and so on and so forth), while VW don't care (or indeed deliberately try to anger technicians). 🤔

I’m a huge fan of the early Toyota Camry’s. I had a ‘94 4-cyl Camry that was very forgiving and easy to learn to fix/wrench in myself when I was younger. I practically rebuilt/refreshed the car over the years. The car got me through every weather event in Oklahoma and had over 294k miles. I would still be driving that car to this day it if wasn’t for a tree limb falling and karate chopping/totaling the car.

I've shared this with some of the homies. A lot of dudes struggle with depression and nobody wants or likes to talk about it. "When you're feeling down, just know that it's only temporary." I know I commented already, but thanks for being a good example for people, especially when there's so much poop flying around these days. You're an absolute G, Charles, OG triple OG.

It has cold AC, all power windows and locks working, non leaking sunroof, and I would have now qualms about taking it for a multi thousand mile road trip. Who ever gets this car will be set for many years of reliability. Thank you for taking the time and chance on one of Toyotas greatest!

Those types of Toyota's from 1998 to 2001's could last forever. That was the last model before the bubble hood and the variable valve timing in 2002 to 2005 Camry's. I still see those vehicles out there as daily drivers even though they are 20 plus years old. As long as you do the maintenance like changing the fluids, etc it can last as long as you want it to last.

Being the owner of three WVs with ur guidance I tell my mechanic how to do it and he gets it 85% of the time. Tip for the future just remove the knuckle when doing lower ball joints, no way you properly torqued that lower ball joint without removing the axle from the wheel bearing. It would have given a lot more room to work since you already replaced the front struts. Love the mission with the vehicle just trying to help for the future.

Great car Charles, and you did a great job working on it. I personally would've done a couple of additional things myself like an Engine flush (mainly because the inside of that engine looks pretty dirty and neglected. does sound like it runs very well though, so that's good), reconditioned the headlights, and probably a couple other odds and ends that I'm not remembering right now. Anyways, not sure if the other guys did some additional work that you didn't mention but in any case these camrys are very solid cars and I have no doubt that it will last your friend for a very long time to come, and I know he appreciates all your hard work and efforts very much so kudos to you my friend!
