@@felix_ennui another thing you can do, if I may, is that you send the gate to ADV Clock instead of trigger. in place of filling, you can keep how the steps sounds as they are designed on the dfam, but you break the equal 1/8 sequence and you decide when they play ;) (p.s. amazing video BTW)

Hey hardminder, thanks for the comment. Yes, Erica is just making the hi hat sound. What do you have plugged into the ADV / CLOCK input on the DFAM? You need some sort of gate signal to advance the sequence to its next step.

@@felix_ennui First of al I really apreciate your reply. I forgot to mention that I copied your setup at 1:37 or so. So I assumed you had drum gate 1 going in your multi to the erica and to the dfam advance. I don't have a multi nor a erica but that shouldn't matter, I sent the gate 1 drectly into ADV/Clock. Am I doing something wrong?

You should be good. The DFAM needs to be armed, if you will. Advance it to step 8 and hit RUN. Nothing should happen. Hit play on the Beatstep Pro and it should start up.

@@felix_ennui Man, honestly, before I asked you this question, I worked on this setup for 3 evenings in a row. When I say my setup is the exact same as yours that's because it is. It's really not that complicated to replicate, there are 3 wires... But somehow it's not working, I really don't understand. I'm not a noob, I.ve been playing and working with wires and mics and amps and midi and everything for 17 years. This modular thing is new though, but still...

Hi Steven, thanks for the comment. I have no experience with the BS, but I've had no trouble triggering bass frequencies using the BSP. I even have another video focusing on such things. No bummers here. Well, I guess a reset in would be nice, perhaps a knob for the vca envelope instead of a switch...

@@felix_ennui If I may intervene here :D the issues with the keystep and the beatstep with moog stuff is related to moog choice for pitch intervals (-5 +5 v) compared to eurorack standard (0-10) , which beatstep also complies with. Basically, anytime you connect a betastep/keystep to DFAM (but I have the same issues with Subharmonicon) you are sending a 0 signal, which is already a +5 compared to the moog cv floor (-5). Concretely, it would be like playing with DFAM sequencer and being only able to tune the pitch knob from noon to the right. You don't have access to the lower frequencies. There is no workaround unless you have eurorack and you buy something like the pico mscaler, which is a voltage translator, so that you can turn BS signal from 0-10 v to -5+5. The only workaround you can apply on moog dfam if you want to control the pitches from BS, is to stay as low as possible with your VCO frequency as well as with your sequencer pitch knobs. Consider that if you turn the sequencer step all to the left and you connect the CV from beatstep, automatically it would be as you move that pitch knob to noon/middle. Hope this clarify

Still loving the DFAM. Recently upgraded to the KeyStep Pro, so that has been getting more use with my modular stuff. The BeatStep Pro is a great sequencer also, just be sure to attenuate them gates if using with the DFAM.

does it work well with keystep pro? btw can we record to daw wit this setup? via usb or audio in?
