Interesting video, particularly the Tsitsipas presser at the end; I didn’t know the context of the Small Kid fight. Medvedev has been known to be a weirdly adamant stickler for let apologies. There’s a clip of him berating another player for hitting let in the middle of the point and then not apologizing after winning on a normal shot. Totally unreasonable expectation that your opponent will put his hands up and apologize-let alone that he’ll even remember-a net skid on ball 5 when he wins the point on ball 9. But also, Stefanos isn’t exactly a skilled diplomat when it comes to losing and sporting conflicts. Ultimately I really do love this rivalry. You’ve got Medvedev, the brilliant, Chess-like ugly defensive tennis, and Tsitsipas, the stylish, flamboyant attacking tennis, and their personalities couldn’t be more different off-court as well. Really interesting dynamic.

Seeing all these comments about Medvedev being "humble and respectful etc", I can't stop myself from wondering if you guys watch tennis at all... Medvedev is not humble and definitely not the first tennis player that comes to mind when talking about respect. He is just a little bit more humble and respectful than Tsitsipas. They are very close in terms of skill. Medvedev has the edge because of three things, in my opinion. Firstly, the match-up is in his favor, because of the way they play. Secondly, Tsitsipas gets frustrated and angered more easily than Medvedev. Thirdly, Medvedev is more consistent with his performances. Tsitsipas can win vs someone from the Big4 and get destroyed in the next match by a Top20 player.

Medvedev is humble, but has the same problem as Tsitsipas, when triggered can be unpredictable in terms of outburst. Take his interactions with hostile crowds for example, it's just priceless(may not be pretty, but it's entertaining to watch, even more so when he turn it around in his favour). I mean its not respectful in any way but its part of his character(to push back anyway) and its great to see those kinds of moments as you learn much more about the player(unlike the usual poker faces and fake smiles along with standart words of praise).

So far, Medvedev demonstrated that he is the better player. Not only that he won h/h more often, he achieved better results at GS events. Tsitsipas is a very talented player and in terms of tennis skills, he may have more weapons than Medvedev. But to win at the highest level, consistency and adaptability are the essences of a winning formula. From Tsitsipas's past remarks, this guy is nothing but childish.

It appears to me a very healthy relationship between two young players who are, perhaps, developing a rivalry that we'll read about for years to come. Both represent their unique take on how tennis can be played. One style versus another style. Then of course these prideful youth want to prove to the world their style is the best! After all, we all seek that type of confirmation once upon a time... No need to make it more toxic than it has to be...

Apologizing for a net cord shot has never made any sense to me--it's not deliberate, and it can happen to either player at any time. By way of the same logic, why don't players apologize for every defensive shot that lands on a line or an ace the skids across a line?

Far more matured than Murray by far and to think he is a father of 4 and much older!
