You have maybe the best delivery of 'dad jokes' I've ever heard. Chef John is the only competition that comes to mind immediately 😉

As always, a great video from you. Just a note of caution, (at least here in the UK), techniques like these would make images inadmissible in wildlife/nature competitions. Keep up the good work - I watch all your videos that are relevant to me. Happy New Year!

Although I fully appreciate the skils you have utilised to make this composite and I can see that for GRAPHIC/DESIGN work this process can be very useful, I have to say that I absolutely disagree with the general use of composites in wildlife photography. FFS, if people with cameras who mess about trying to photograph wildlife (yes, I deliberately did NOT cal them wildlife photographers) have to resort to trickery like this then the future of wildlife photography looks very grim indeed. Despute the above Anthony you do explain stuff excellently.

I essentially agree with what you are saying but the holier than thou tone is a bit abrasive. Not sure why anyone would feel they could determine who is and isn't a wildlife photographer...strikes me of the no true Scotsman fallacy. Anyway, I'm a wildlife photographer and would never want to manipulate an image like this to pass it off as a genuine wildlife photagraph, sell it as a print or publish it etc. BUT having stumbled upon this video I am going to give it a go, even if it is just to help improve my limited understanding of photoshop. I took a pic of a pink necked green pigeon on a recent trip to Singapore. Unfortunately as it was set against a bright sky, the background is essentailly white. I won't be able to get a better shot of this beautiful species any time soon, so I will have a crack at this. I doubt I will like the results and most likely won't do anything with the image but I see no harm in experimenting and seeing what is possible.

The touch you did to warm up the subject @ 11:25 really pulled the composite together, definitely the attention to detail helps!

Do you have any videos on how to create a composite sequence of a bird in flight against a sky background so that the finished image shows the whole sequence of the bird approaching and landing on its perch? I couldn't figure out how to search your channel. I am a Lightroom user and I have found your Photoshop for Lightroom Users series helpful because most Photoshop tutorials assume some knowledge of the program which I do not have. Thank you.

Thank you for this really helpful video. I have learned so much from your videos. Just a query when I save my composite file to jpeg I only get 2.5 mb file. The raw file is 58 mb. I have resolution set at 300. I have tried no end of permutations but always end up with this small file. Can anyone help?

Are the typical compositing tools like color matching or the new neutral filter harmonisation (in Beta) too strong/artificial on wildlife photos, I guess in this case it was an straight forward approach to just warm the eagle up a bit, it would have just saved you from creating the new selection/flattening the image?

Hi, I watch a few you tubers use various post processing software to process their captures and most have a different approach on just how they process an image. Can you please put together a definitive step by step approach on just how you personally approach your post processing: an exact order of operations you would use every time? Also, there are various types of capture from: Portraiture, Landscapes, Still life, Architecture to high contrast black and white etc. Does your order of operations using this software change according to the type of image captured and if so can you also show that order of operations for that specific genre mentioned above, obviously that may involve you producing 5 KZfaq videos on just how your sequence of operations differs for each genre mentioned above, but I sincerely hope you can find the time to produce these videos. As an example some may use a 10 step order of operations raw processing framework like the following for a particular genre of capture: 1-LENS CORRECTION, 2-TRANSFORM, 3-CROP, 4-WHITE BALANCE, 5-EXPOSURE, 6-CONTRAST, 7-COLOUR(COLOR), 8-DOGE & BURN, 9-CLEANUP, 10-SHARPENING. Thanks, in advance.
