Falling a tree is one thing ,, bucking and servicing the log is another.. take a good look down the log, bucking actually takes thinking and assessment... do these things before ya cut. and ya wont have to call over yer partner to cut ya out,, every one gets pinched now and again ..

Learned the "cut compression first" rule from your channel a couple years back. That alone has saved me a lot of bs headaches. Good channel man. Positive vibes, and informative.

Great advice, and excellent job. I wouldn't trust myself cutting that close to the stones. I would probably cut down about ¾ of the way and then roll the log over with my peavey.

I am a new chainsaw user and made the mistake of cutting the bottom first which was the tension in my case and when i went on top i pinched my blade.. took me 45 to free it.. Bucking a fallen tree on an incline that is sitting on another tree may not have been for beginners.. I will remember this tip, always compression first which makes sense because you still have some supporting wood.

Fellow amateur as well ... but thanks to the generous teaching of Buckin Billy and others on YT, I safely made it thru 18 storm scattered, 30' Leylands with my 1st chainsaw ... an $89 HyperTough from Walmart. Got in shape, and got my yard back! It helped me to recall this essential point by following the alphabet ... compression 1st , then tension

Works well for cutting stumps off wind blow. Or ya could cut from bottom up its the same thing but i like to work with gravity not against her
