I have worked on these engines for almost 50 years, never done a compression test, you can tell most faults with them just by looking and listening, in my experience the biggest problem for poor starting is injector pump needing attention. Some do seem to start better than others no matter what you do.

Did you ever figure out what make./model compression tester you have?

Where do you put the tester fitting? The injector port or what?

Sounds like the compressor is grounded from a freon leaking into a valves pissin...
