I've been listening band watching these while I do my full-time job, Cookie Monster. I am trying to make a career change, so I am in school aiming for an associate degree for server administration and picking up a couple certifications along the way. Companies around here that pay well for entry-level IT support require at least an A+ and have an expectation that you will get a degree or a pile of certificates within some define time frame. I am going to do both and leverage that to a higher paycheck. Thanks for the course. I could pass the tests right now, but I will go ahead and finish the course and scoop up the little practical tips you have.

Code Word (Cookie Monster) LOL! Thank you for these videos. I have been watching them and taking notes on every one. I almost have my whole giant notebook filled! I'm doing this for my own personal growth. I have no IT background except for some tech work for HP waaaaaay back in the day. Your videos have helped me immensely and I really appreciate all of the time you have put into them. Everything is top notch and you are incredibly good at what you do. You have helped me so much and I deeply appreciate your time and effort.

Wowza, you have a whole notebook full of notes?! I feel honored I must say. It's really impressive that you're putting so much time and effort into your studies, I admire it, it's awesome :) Are planning a career change is this just something you've been meaning to get to or? You don't have to tell me, I'm just curious

@@BurningIceTech, Of course I'll tell you! From my perspective, we've spent the last week together! lol!! I am hoping for a career change but it really depends on how well I absorb the knowledge. Networking is my weakness but I find it so very interesting. I'd really like to get into Lvl 1 tech support for starters. I'm kind of taking it 1 step/video at a time! For now, I want my A+ and I'm hoping to dip my toe into Network+ ... fingers crossed!

@@buckinka01 Anything specific you have in mind with regards to career change? I'm assuming it might be something in IT considering the courses your watching. You may might have to start as a techie/technician or sorts in the beginning until you find your feet and also until you have something IT wise which you can put on your CV/resume.

@@BurningIceTech I'm hoping to either enter our IT department for the company I work for and/or apprentice at a really nice tech repair shop we have here locally. I don't have any lofty expectations really. I just want to enter the IT environment and hopefully work my way up from there. I'm thinking I have a better shot at getting hired if I have some certifications under my belt because my resume is heavily specialized in an entirely different field. Like not even in the remotely same realm.
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech Жыл бұрын
@@buckinka01 Well I really admire the fact that you're willing to switch fields since it's normally a lot of work for most. I don't know if I could switch fields now. Maybe to something that is partially similar to what I'm doing but like you said, your switching to something completely different. That's impressive I have to say

@BurningIceTech Жыл бұрын
Best of luck with your core 2 exam. Just be careful, those exams do tend to cross-pollinate so both exams will ask you about both core 1 and 2 to a certain extent. It's usually advisable to finish studies for both core 1 and 2 first before attempting one of the two exams because of them cross-pollinating to a certain degree. At least with you already having covered the Core 1 and think you should be fine :)

Am running Oracle VM virtualbox, with: win 7 pro, win 10 pro, Ubuntu 20.04.3, Win 2019 Standard Desktop, and Fedora/linux 35. The Windows 10 Edition on my computer is a Home Edition. It was missing so many functions. So I am using Evaluation iso downloads of the Professional versions. This has enabled me to play along a you demonstrate. BTW. for the sake of anyone reading. These are all free as have limited functionality, or are evaluation copies, which have some limited settings, and quit working after a designated period of time.
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah getting fully working versions of things like Operating Systems can be a problem and real pain in your neck if your trying to do it the legal way. Virtual Machines is a great way to do it but like you said, your stuck with Evaluation versions and such. What you can possibly try and this is only a suggestion. You can maybe create yourself a Azure trial if you know what that is. There you can make virtual machines in the Cloud and you can choose any O/S you want. They give you 30 days and $200 dollars with the trial. The trial comes to an end as soon as you reach one of those two values, whichever comes first. The problem is if your not familiar with Azure, you'll now first have to learn about that. Although....you can maybe just learn enough to make your own VM and connect to it. That is something you can actually learn in just a few minutes :) I do need to point out though that creating a Azure trial requires a credit card. It costs nothing but they use it to verify your not a robot. I see they now also accept a debit card.

at my college we have a pc class room with 30 pcs, and when u turn on the pc u get to a screen where u need to enter acount id and password in order to get to the desktop, how do i set it up if i have 2 pc one is a server and one is a client?
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech 2 жыл бұрын
Based on what explained sounds like your college is using what is called a "Active Directory" and a "Domain". What this means is, they have a server which has software installed called the "Active Directory" software. This software on the server allows them to create all the user accounts/ID's that everybody uses to log on. It stores all the account information that server. Each pc that you want to use in this setup has to be "joined to the domain". Once a PC is joined to the college domain, it will ask you for a logon ID when you start it. To get all this done you will need to Install a "Role" on a Server Operating System. The Role your going to have to add/install is the AD DS role which stands for Active Directory Domain Services. Once this role is installed you will be able to create you domain and eventually create your user accounts and groups ect. Once you have all that set up you can go ahead and join each pc to that domain. It gets pretty technical and is a lot to explain here. I actually have a few videos on this channel that explain this pretty well :) If you go check on my channel for the playlist called "WS-011 - Windows Server 2019", in that playlist I explain how domains work and how you create them and how you can join a PC to a domain. I also practically demonstrate each step that I explain so you follow my step by step instructions in the videos :)

is this course enough to pass the exam?
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech 2 жыл бұрын
To the pass the MD-100 exam yes but NOT to pass the MD-101 exam. To earn the certification, you need to write 2 exams, both the MD-100 & MD-101. The Microsoft MD-101 course and exam focuses heavy on managing users and their devices remotely so you need to have extensive knowledge of things like Microsoft Intune with that 2nd exam. As for the MD-100, yes this course is enough to pass but if possible, it's still advisable to take about 1-2 weeks after completing the full course to "recover" any topics you feel uncertain on. Basically any topic you feel some sort of doubt on, make sure you recover it in some sort of way, weather it be to rewatch the video or to go google it, as long as you recover it :)
