in the Tower Ballroom Blackpool. Published in April 1960.

I think the organ sounded better at the time of this recording,
with much more body and a real grand piano.

He played in Blackpool from March 1930 until March 1970. I remember him in the 1950s. After dancing we walked home, both males and females, with no fear of being attacked and robbed. The "good old days"

My lifelong treasured memory was when Reginald Dixon signed my LP for me in the Tower Ballroom 1963, i often wrote to him when i was in my early teens,and he always wrote back,i saved his letters for years.

Hi Peter - Thank you for sharing your memories of a lovely man. Reg. also autographed his "Reg at the Tower" LP for me and some other of his EP records. Unfortunately from 1964 I couldn't visit Blackpool any more as I was working 4/5 nights per week mostly in London and the home counties starting out on my 53 odd year career as an entertainer. Yes, I agree. Reg. would spend much time in the corridor behind the stage at the Tower Ballroom signing records, autograph books and photos in the Tower souvenir brochure. Nothing was too much trouble. All successful musicians and stage artistes will take as much time as needed to chat with their fans. During our time in Clubland almost everyone who bought copies of our Long Play Record wanted them signed. We sold thousands at our performances and I've seen odd ones turn up on Ebay from £7 to £23! Loved being introduced to Reginald Dixon. My pro-hornist, Donna Alberti Dvorak from Houston, TX, played in an invitational with the Queen's Brass. Mama just played Theater Organ for 200 shows with the NYC Rockettes. ;) (BRANSON, MO, USA

All `Blackpool´ style players.................just listen and listen again before saying you play the Dixon style! Note the tempo and the use of the stops and specially the select use of the crescendo pedal...............sounds great so keep practising!

+ton bezemer Hi Ton Thanks for commenting ! Nobody can play like Reg. Only Reg.can ! I have heard various players trying to copy Dixon and Torch and other Greats - you can play the same notes but it never sounds the same. The top theatre organists had "soul" and their own personal touch. Best Wishes PAUL
