In this week’s video, we talk about one of the most discussed topic in Fluid Mechanics i.e. Computational Fluid Mechanics (CFD). CFD is a branch of fluid mechanics that uses computers to simulate fluid flow problems. We talk about the need for CFD and the various steps involved including discretization(meshing), solution and post processing. We also talk about the fifferent forms of the Navier stokes equation that are used to reduce computational effort from direct numerical simulation(DNS), Large eddy simulation(LES), Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS)equations.
The tutorial on ANSYS FLUENT will be uploaded soon.
Hey! If you haven’t come across our channel yet, we are five masters students (Nikhilesh, Kushal,Ankith, Akshar and Sanjeet) pursuing Aerospace Engineering at T U Delft in the Netherlands and make science videos every week. Please do subscribe to our channel and share the videos.

Is there a way to take limits in computer science using the epsilon-delta definition? As in, instead of doing f(x+0.00001) where f(x) is undefined but \lim_{h \to 0} f(x+h) is defined?

Won't low-pass filtering remove large scales in LES?
@2BrokeScientists
@2BrokeScientists 5 жыл бұрын
In Large Eddy Simulations(LES) the idea is to resolve the large scales and model the small scales. The small scales correspond to higher frequencies, where as large scales correspond to the lower range and hence low pass filtering will allow low frequency(large scales) and attenuate higher frequencies(small scales). it is possible to simulate many different physics aspects in the same simulation? Like the effect of buoyancy, thermal flow, phase change for parameters that variant with height for example?
@2BrokeScientists
@2BrokeScientists 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think there are options to implement the specific conditions on some solvers. But we would suggest you to go through the Software manual to see if it can be implemented.

@@2BrokeScientists thanks, glad you answer. one last question, without knowing nothing of CFD and the basic principles and formulas for the physics involve, how many hours of tutorials and practice are needed to start to understand how operate these complex softwares? I imagine around 50 to 150 hours? Or some are quite easy to figure out?
@2BrokeScientists
@2BrokeScientists 4 жыл бұрын
That would depend on what your goal is. If you are just curious to learn what is happening about the flow then you can just follow some online tutorials and implement them but to actually produce results that mean something its better to start from the fundamentals and then build from there. The time for that is highly variable on your pace of learning and how in depth you want to go
