This is rough. I don't typically get struck by the death of people I've never known personally. But the sheer scope of his life's work whether it be in his own bands, or the bands he recorded, contains so many albums that were a huge personal impact on my music taste and own self-reflection. Music helps many people get through life, and Steve played a big part. He'd probably hate the term, but we've lost an absolute legend. RIP. The Shellac album coming this month will be a difficult listen.

Biggest shock to the system I've had in years. The man changed my life immeasurably and searching for Albini interviews was how chanced across your show - which has been changing my life for four years now.

I regret that it took me so long to discover him. His work has always impressed me and I will miss him greatly. I adored his insights and work philosophy. Right after Gary Floyd, it’s been a rough-ass week. Rest In Power, Steve. Thanks so much for posting these interviews. ❤

This is very hard for me too, it's rare for me to be this shaken by the death of someone I never met

Devastating to listen to Albini's description of working on a record with a man dying of cancer and then I realized that I myself am only listening to this old show because Albini himself has died. . . .

Since I became an adult doing adult things I was a listener to all Steves bands and output, it spoke to me. This is a sad outcome for this man, death is so inconvenient sometimes especially at such a young age

Real bummer. This has occurred within a few other people's recent passing: Mimi Parker, Brian McBride, and Steve Roden, which is so strange. Also, I have gotten news over the last year that a handful of people that I've known have passed. It shouldn't start happening this quickly. I've started to ask myself: who's next? And then... Lurked over on the forum since about 2004, and talk about a crash course on how the internet works. I was reading it during the (in)famous clocker bob pile on. Wild stuff. Around that time, I wound up buying music from a musician there. Ordered vinyl, and some CDs, and even now I check in on his Bandcamp page. Not just that, but I found some great recipes there too. And then the production stuff. Never knew anyone personally, let alone SA. But always enjoyed the discussions there (and many of the voices from people I've never met *coughs*. They were always funny and insightful and, sometimes, wise). It's strange to be affected in such a way. The place was always motivating, and the talks SA gave on the podcasts, and reading over what he wrote on the PRF, were always good to hear. He really understood much about the creative act in, of, and for itself. And was so encouraging of free expression. In any case, thanks for this.

It is unnerving that "heroes" of mine are dying who are even younger than I am. And I ain't that old!

It is unnerving to think that attempts at healthy living in hopes of becoming a rockin' old man are probably futile.
