A documentary I made for my dad last father's day. He said his computer couldn't play the 4k file I mailed him on a USB drive so I don't even think he's watched it yet (I could be wrong). Anyways you can check it out here if you want. I hope this video description finds you well and I hope you are staying safe out there in these uncertain times.

Btw, it's worth mentioning that Conan used the $40m from the NBC buyout to finance his staff to move to Cali for his TBS gig, kept them on their usual payroll, and even paid rent for some of them until they got situated and back on their feet. This is why everyone loves Conan.

@@trevorcarlisle5447Leno was funny for his time in his prime, but he didnt evolve his comedy with the times. Conan has constantly evolved his style to remain relevant yet hilarious. All great comics who still kill it do. But some, like Leno, keep the same shtick for decades and dont care to appealing to the next generation of fans. Im not talking about pandering, im talking about being able to be funny to any audience, and comedy is based in relatability. When a comedian loses touch with the times, they lose their ability to remain truly funny. People find Jay funny, but mostly people his age. Conan however could make a toddler and an 80 year old war veteran laugh equally hard. Thats what makes Conan so great

I once ran into Conan at a small coffee shop in northern california while I was in the US for vacation. He dropped his wallet, so I picked it up and we struck up a conversation as I handed it back to him. Really, genuinely, nice guy. We spoke about family, friends, career, all while standing in this line waiting for coffee. He offered me tickets to attend one of his late-night filming sessions but I had to politely decline given we were headed home the next week. Anyway, as we were saying our goodbyes, he confessed to multiple murders in southern california between 1987 and 1999. He whispered in my ear "no one will believe you" and walked away. True story.

The most frustrating part of all this is that whether or not Leno did it all intentionally, he clearly has no care or thought for how his actions will affect others. Once the damage is pointed out, he'll shrug and say "What am I supposed to do about it?"

Conan did the exact same thing to Jay...in 2004 Conan wanted Jays show...and negotiated for it. That started the feud...Jay just fought back in 2009 and wanted to keep his show. Norm said it best...Why are these guys fighting over a name/number...go get your won show, we can all have shows. Jay and Conan did the exact same thing, they both wanted THIS show. and fought over it. They both had the choice to get their own show at another company,,,but both wanted "the tonight show" because of its prestige...both fought for it. Conan is just as quilty. NBC messed up the worst by promising Conan the show and not keeping the promise(or never intended to keep it)

@@diox8tony in 2004 Jay could've said "no, I'm not good with this, I wanna keep going after 2009. I'm not gonna sign a deal or announce I'm leaving in 2009. Conan can keep waiting longer, or go to another network." Conan would've then said fine, waited longer, or took a deal from another network. Conan asked for the job, Jay could've said no. Would've been no stink. Instead, Jay wants to appear like a "nice guy" and lies, says he will leave, when he has no intention to. That's what caused the whole stink, Jay's lies.

As for the train debacle...I've answered this before and will again. As cruel as it seems, if Its my wife, Father, Brother, Sister, or what have you....I'm saving them over those 5 people. Why? Because I love them, I know them, and their value to me is higher for that reason, and I wont pretend to stand on some moral pedestal otherwise. If I know no one, I'm saving those 5 people. At that point it is simple math. But you cant tell me that anyone who witnesses their direct family in danger, wouldnt save them above any one else. Its simply human nature. The train test is one of the most dumbed down philosophical tests humanity can offer, and I wish people would stop using it. It shows absolutely nothing other than our desire to make ourselves look better than we are....as most people will always answer to saving the 5 people...when in practice, they would save those they love first.

TV ratings are a scam. I doubt anyone who is a real person and can use youtube comments section ever watched Leno. Advertisers are duped by the tv ratings which are based on phone surveys and extrapolation of purposely inflated data. Leno was a placeholder for producing safe for boomers content which is also safe for advertisers aka not shocking the status quo and consumerism.

I was confused by the Biden voiceover at first but ended up loving it… it’s a great sounding voice, please keep using Biden 😂😂 Even the random sections you had to make bizarre jokes were a nice break from the rest of the video and gave me a good laugh. Are you planning to make more of these? Why is Jay blamed for not taking another show at another network,,,when CONAN started in 2004 with the EXACT same decision. "No I want THIS show!" Norm says it best. why are these guyS fighting over a name/number...go get your own show. Seems like they all messed up...especially NBC. @@diox8tony Conan didn't try to take Jay's show. He was offered a frankly astounding deal by Fox in 2002 and refused. The NBC execs were licking their chops at Conan's young audience reach, and so when Jay's contract came up in '04, they informed him it would be the last time they renew him. Conan didn't mind waiting 5 years, and the story commenced. Conan wasn't "starting the fight". Conan asked for the show once Jay was done (He had been referencing retirement for some time, just no one knew when), and NBC then tried to have their cake and eat it too with both hosts. He never tried to "force" Leno out, he only wanted to stay at NBC if he knew that hosting The Tonight Show was in the cards. The execs are the ones that tried to force Jay out. And Norm can say that because Norm doesn't think ANYTHING matters. That's part of his schtick. For people who grew up in the prime of Carson's Tonight Show, that show mattered a great deal. It's why guys like Conan even wanted to be comedians. Conan tried to realize his lifelong dream. Jay wanted to hold on as long as possible. NBC execs are easily, by far and away, the biggest "villains" in the story. Jay was lambasted across the industry by comedians large and small for a reason though. He wasn't necessarily malevolent, but he certainly shrugged and went along with a lot that was seriously hurting Conan's career, while then running around the press circuit with the "aw shucks, I'm just a good guy following orders" routine. Jay has to have known he was dooming Conan's show

@@Sn0wdyDay RE: "[But Jay] certainly shrugged and went along with a lot that was seriously hurting Conan's career, while then running around the press circuit with the "aw shucks, I'm just a good guy following orders" routine." In 2004 Conan could've consulted Jay before agreeing to *NBC's* weird 5 year plan, but he didn't. Conan let the network tell Jay the decision to retire him in 2009 was already made. This when Conan could've left at the end of his contract in January of 2006 and gone to *FOX.* Doing that would've meant Jay and his staff could've stayed on at "TTS," Conan would've had his earlier time slot- and a much bigger salary than *NBC* was offering him to wait five years. The entire debacle would've been averted. But Conan had to have "The Tonight Show."

I remember staying up til midnight on a school night, just waiting to watch Conan do the robot. I wouldn't even watch the interviews. I'd just watch the first half hour. I loved Conan growing up. He played a large part of my childhood.

Same. I used to record the shows every night on VHS so I could watch them after school the next day. Legendary bits.

I remember being up too late. I was suppose to be asleep and Conan was dancing during the intro cutting the strings off his legs and being like WHAT IS THIS? Forgot about it. A few weeks later I’m up late again flipping the channels and he’s on top of his desk yelling “I’m a blanket of pain” when he was interviewing some basketball player and talking about what Conan’s defense is like in basketball, a blanket of pain.

Conan was a big part of something positive and funny at the end of the day when I was a kid (making staying up late, always worth it). Jay Leno just booo and over the years I learned something about David Letterman and Howard Stern indeed they were funny too and despite being rough around the edges, good people.

This is some of the best, most engaging narrative storytelling I've experienced in a long time. The editing, the folksy Joe Biden AI narrator, the foreshadowing and meta commentary is just so on point. Instant sub.

@@TommyTom21 Agree to disagree: the random observations/ramblings of a possibly senile old man kept me paying attention, despite me already knowing about half this story. (I particularly liked his getting so into the weeds with the "morals and ethics" question, dropping profanities about your fat mom and bread, that he totally loses his train of thought).

This was a really GREAT (also very funny) video and everything, but it had no resolve, and it seemed to end abruptly. And perhaps you could make a video, detailing how things turned out for CONAN. ❤. P.s. why is it called, CONAN killed a guy? 😅 Am I just not in on the joke? Anyway, much love brother, & I really enjoy your sense of humor. You have kind of a deadpan style and sometimes u even remind me of the great Norm MacDonald. ❤
