To my personal view; Self has 3 parts just like reality - hence the pervasiveness of Threes in world religions and myths - Self has 3 parts; firstly, the incarnate part, the Personality. This is your consciousness right Now. Second, there is your Individuality. This is your consciousness that continues, evolves, progresses incarnation to incarnation. This is the Individual Within of the final Part. i.e. The Origin Point. And finally, the Third Part is Unity. The Self is the Incarnate Personality of an Origin Point Within Unity. Buddhahood, in this model, is the realization that the Origin Point, i.e. the Individuality, and Unity are One and the Same. Some call this God, the One, the Good, etc. In this model, when you examine Unity, it is Empty of Existence. It touches Nothing, yet Nowhere is it not touched. Plotinus discusses this entire concept from a Western perspective. From Western Platonic philosophy. Both the West and the East are speaking of the same thing from a different Lens.
