🚴 Xebex Air Cycle - garagegymreviews.co/XebexCycle
The Concept2 BikeErg is one of the best air bikes available. However, Xebex has surprised me greatly with this one...
The Concept2 BikeErg is one of my favorite air bikes of all time. To be honest, I love all of Concept2 products. The Concept2 Model D Rower is the best rower the Concept2 SkiErg is the best SkiErg and their monitors are fantastic.
With that said, the Xebex Air Cycle from Get RXd has surprised me greatly. It's the closest copy I've seen and it actually does some things better than the C2 BikeErg.

One thing few people mention about Concept2... they have parts available on their website for every product they have ever made. I have 6 million meters on my C2 rower, and I just ordered my first replacement part(seat rollers) because they seem a little bit worn. They have a loyal following for a reason.

Due to stock issues I purchased a Xebex Air cycle plus. It’s fantastic. I’m 110kg and it’s rock solid, great adjustability for sizing, and the magnetic resistance simulates hill climbing (great if you’re a cyclist). The seat sucks though. The display integrates well with a variety of apps and the flywheel is easily accessible via the riding position. Also it has bottle holder mounting bolts standard.

Coop usually is pretty consistent but him saying he’s never recommended a Xebex product is borderline at best, he’s reviewed their “assault” bike and has said it’s more or less identical to the Assault brand of bike, and he’s reviewed the Xebex 2.0 rower and has found that for the price it’s a viable alternative to a Concept 2
@mdbourne
@mdbourne 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, i agree. It makes me suspicious. I tried their assault bike after Coops recommendation and it was terrible, i was sooo disappointed. I sold it and got the Rogue Echo Bike, which was way better. Last year I sold the Rogue Echo Bike and got the C2 BikeErg and its the best I have used. The C2 Stuff is built incredible and the fan system is way better then magnetic. I also tried the Xebex rower and it was junk compared to both C2 and WaterRower.

Hey guys, I have ski, rower & bike from C2 in my gym and have tested all Xebex equipment at a local supplier. Using the old adage „buy cheap, buy twice“ that is the case C2 vs Xebex. I have used C2 rowers commercially and privately and really is nothing better, I have also tested and used the water rower which is also inferior to the C2 line.

Good comparison video, but I think you could have talked about the software specifics a bit more (e.g. integration with the ErgData App, connecting with heart rate monitors). I'm still happy with my BikeErg and your original video/article really sold it for me. The Xebex's flywheel is certainly more convenient to reach for, but I dig the old school PM5.

Coops made an issue out of the C2 bikeerg weighing half of the Xebex competitor. That's because the C2 has an aluminum frame vs the Xebex steel frame. Lighter equals less corrosion ( aluminium vs steel) and easier to transport..

I have a knock off Concept2 bike erg. I bought it from a local gym owner who imports from China. He charged me less than 1/3 of C2, and it is identical to Concept 2. I even used C2’s instructions to put it together. Ive been using it hard for about a year and it’s great. Only thing I’ve done is buy a wider seat. It’s numbers on the flywheel are backwards just like the Xebex. Wonder if from the same Chinese factory? Edit: the knock offs welds are beautiful. Stacked dimes. First thing I noticed. Coop, why should someone buy a BikeErg like these vs a fan bike with the moving arms such as Airdyne/ Rogue Echo/ Assault Airbike? Wouldn’t the fan bikes be more efficient at calorie burn/ lactic acid generation? Rogue Echo is also cheaper than these Ergs. My Airdyne AD7 was about the same price as these ergs. To each his own of course- and variety is the spice of life.

I think for most people who buy products like this maximizing calorie burn is just not very important. Calorie control is taken care of in the kitchen. The kind of air bikes you mention are, IMO, best for short intense interval training. These bikes will do that kind of training just fine, but are also good for long, endurance focused sessions. I am not alone in seeing the moving handles on those air bikes as just a gimmick. Again, for most people who buy these, they get their arm work with the iron.

I would legit be PISSED if I spent $1,000 on a piece of equipment and it had welds that looked like that... I know that may sound picky to some folks, but it’s the truth.

I hate when people complain about a thing like you stated. I don’t care if you pay 50 for a piece of equipment, you should be pleased with the things you buy. Let alone if you buy premium products. I think people get a little carried away talking about minor cosmetics issues with racks and barbells, but it’s within your right to openly talk about what you spend money on.

Aluminum welds are always bumpier than steel. The aluminum welds are quite good on the bike.

@@fedguy9182 for clarity I’m specifically talking about what Coop points out having a problem with himself. Can tell the welder just didn’t take the time to actually lay a quality bead The rest of the welds did look pretty nice.

Why buy this stuff new? Second hand is littered with cardio equipment for not a lot of money. I grabbed a Kaiser M3 for $400. Brand new that is a $2000 bike.

Concept 2 equipment is not that easy to find used. And you can't buy it for a fraction of the price, either. People pay a healthy percentage of new price, and they go fast. That is one of the best things about buying them. If for some reason you don't like it, you can sell it in a matter of days, not weeks.

"Air bikes" like these are (IMO) the worst type of exercise bikes that I've used. I guess they're probably cheaper than a regular exercise bike at a gym. The best is an actual road bike mounted on a high end magnetic trainer like a wahoo kickr or tacx neo. Tried a local place where you bring your own bike and use their trainer and its amazing. If you already have a decent bike then you can get an excellent trainer for $1200 or so.

As close as Bike Erg? Yeah, they copied it as much as they could. But Concept 2 still offers parts and a dedicated community. "Xerox" can go efff themselves.

Honestly, Coop, I feel like there could be a better variety of what you're reviewing. Maybe my interest is more specific but the reviews I've enjoyed are from a year to two years ago. So much new stuff has come out but every time I watch the new reviews I'm disappointed. You also don't post that often.

More effective at what? These bikes are good at both intervals and endurance work. IMO, the Echo bike is best for short, intense intervals. Not nearly as good across the broad range of conditioning, IMO.
