The Concept2 RowERG is considered one of the best rowers on the market. It is not a smart rower, so it does not require a subscription to access content. Instead, it is affordable and solidly built. Yet, it is also lightweight and easy to store, because it breaks down into two pieces.
The RowERG is an air rower. It also uses a chain drive. These two features make the rower very loud. It is best for commercial use or in a home where others will not be disturbed while it is in use. The air resistance is limitless. The harder you row, the more difficult it becomes. A damper controls the flow of air into the fan, so you can control the drag. There are 10 levels.
The PM5 is the Concept2 RowERG’s monitor. This monitor is very accurate at tracking the meters you have rowed. It has games, workouts, and instructional content. The PM5 monitor is easy to use.
The handle and seat are simple but comfortable. Larger or less experienced users may not be as comfortable on the RowERG. The regular RowERG is not too low to the ground, but you can opt for the tall version to sit more comfortably on the seat.
Concept2 makes accessories for the RowERG. You can also easily buy replacement parts for this rowing machine. Many users have reported using their RowERG for millions of meters. It is a great option for beginners and experienced rowers, because the RowERG can last throughout your training evolution.

This is the best of the best rower. All collegiate rowing teams use this rower for dry land training. Every cross fit gym has these, and commercial gyms use them because they are so durable and well made. I’m 6’6” and 245lbs and this piece of equipment withstands the pressure I put on it. Buy this if you haven’t already.

I've used this in a commercial gym but due to the ambient noise level in the same not given its noise level a thought so thanks for pointing that out given my preferred workout time is first thing 6am and my neighbour below me might not appreciate that! So you have given me some pause for thought re buying it for home use given my use case though still sorely tempted anyway!

I’ve had my C2 Model D rower since the end of 2020- between my wife and I we’ve put just over 1million meters on it since then. Is it the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to indoor rowers? It is in my book, and plenty of other rowers (and athletes) feel the same way. And when you factor in the price of the C2 vs. the more expensive subscription-based rowers- and the fact that replacement parts and accessories for the C2 are very reasonably priced- the C2 is an even better deal. My C2 rower has been a key part of the changes I’ve made towards a heart-healthy lifestyle nearly 4 years ago… I put in the effort on all of my rows on the C2, on a consistent basis (twice a week), and I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without it.

Damper adjustment may seem counterintuitive. Opening the vent increases drag. This has the effect of slowing the flywheel faster so it takes more effort to maintain speed. I find that too low of a resistance feels bouncy and hard to catch the beginning of the stroke. I set it where I feel smooth and almost never adjust it. Just a little info from a long time user for anyone curious.

it does sound loud. I may go for the Hydro because of this one issue; as i live in an apartment... thank you. Its too bad that the Hydro requires a subscription.. thank you!!!

C2 is an awesome product--but the one area where Assault Rower has them beat is on the seat. Assault's seat isn't overly mushy, but it is comfortable. The C2 seat has me sort of wiggling side to side after a little while, it's not as comfy on the sit bones.

Literally watching this after just ordering the concept 2 😁 I'm pretty excited, I got into rowing about 5 years ago but I didn't do much research at beginning and bought a bodymax infiniti machine which has a stupid amount of resistance and very limited, especially with the foot rests and motion of movement so I'm upgrading, Thanks for the video and if possible I do have a couple of questions. I ordered the standard leg machine, I'm 5ft 4 in height does the height of the machine matter due to a person's height? Also with the foot rests how do you determine the correct placement? I'm size 9 foot I think you were 8? But then does my height play a role also I get baffled 😂 I just like the best form as possible

The height of the machine doesn't matter. It's the length of the rail that matters. I'm also 5'4". You will be fine on the Concept2 RowERG! As for foot placement, I recommend aligning the straps to the ball of your foot. I hope that helps, and I hope you enjoy your new rower!

@BestTreadmillReviews That's great news I made the right choice with standard then, it's coming on Tuesday so il try and see what you mean by aligning with straps I guess that would mean my feet being higher up rather than lower down on the rests? Great review. What rower would you suggest that would be more quiet, but at the same time have as good of quality and durability as this C2 rower?

Any air rower is going to be pretty loud. Hydrow's rowers are excellent magnetic rowers, and Ergatta/Water Rower makes great water rowing machines.

@@BestTreadmillReviews I actually just got off a Matrix Rower 2-0 which is also magnetic...and that was super smooth and very quiet. But, they sell for around $2,500...kinda steep 🤷♂️

Yes. It will get louder the harder you row because it uses air resistance. Magnetic and water resistance rowers are quieter.
