Customer found us on TikTok loved our videos, but didn't know where to send his vehicle cause he is from Wyoming, we took on this crazy project cause Will LOVES rotaries, and went from a simple engine sway to a rats nest, to electrical issues, now possible blown apex seals. Possibly stay tune for a part 2.

One of my favorite customers as a mechanic was a man with no legs. He had a crane and wheelchair and a Chevy pickup. It had hand controls for everything. I always let him come into the back so I could show him the details of the service and condition of the truck components as it was 25yo truck. Never know what we are capable of. There’s a famous hot rod builder that only has one arm and works alone outperforms 90% of everyone who thinks they can wrench with two hands. Wish you the best brother man

I love RX8s and rotary engines.. this one looks extra hammered though. Sucks it all could have just been the fuse. I bought my RX8 CHEAP as a “cranking not starting”. I had it running within 30 mins because it was simply flooded. Runs like a champ.

Worked on them things for 10yrs PO661 Normally the solenoid stack underneath the inlet manifold...and misfire jeezus just throw a set of coil packs in they are common as fk

And this is why we don't do junkyard motors, especially to less reliable motors. People total Rotaries for blown apex seals all the time.

Sounds like spark or fuel to be honest if there not running right there smoke and run like as because it’s trying to go rich lean rich lean fighting the misfire so when go to basics check fuel check spark get those old ass injectors flow tested and cleaned

Don’t listen to customers word for word. Read between the lines. They are asking a shop because they deep down want the shops wisdoms and not to just play a word game to make them happy

Easier to just do an apex seal instead of going to a used engine that you got no idea if there's issues bad apex seal or coolant seal or anything else.

Yeah, Honda's have this issue too. Got a civic hybrid and they chewed up mine. The rest of my family has Toyotas. Those don't seem to be as effected. But Honda sure do. The local Honda dealer guy, says every winter. He gets a bunch in for a full harness replacement

Use to be a master tech at a Mazda dealer and I kid you not. Every RX8 that comes in our shop. Gets a new reman engine. They are one of the worse engine designs ever.
