I agree with you 100% . If people needed to cough that frequently, they were obviously sick enough that they needed to stay at home home, rather than ruin this beautiful choral performance of Ave Verum Corpus as well as infecting others,as well. One would have thought that the constant coughing was part of the instrumentals, because it occurred continually throughout the entire hymn.

Like velvet, yes. I loved that the sopranos did not, at any time, overwhelm the other parts.

Stunningly beautiful. We sang it a cappella in HS. The instruments really add to its beauty.

A flawless performance. Lovely. It really is a shame that the person who coughed loudly in the audience from beginning to end didn't have the courtesy to leave the church. Or not to go to the concert in the first place.

I agree the coughing can be distracting. I am thankful that the practicing of Mindfulness has helped me learn to focus on the here and now and develop the ability to ignore such distractions.

I know that this was a while ago, but my Chior teacher was in this video and I just wanted to say how much she has helped me with my singing over the time I have known her ❤ This is a truly beautiful song.. And she did amazing!! We are even singing it in my own class. And to see how far she has come makes me so happy 💕💕 This is a beautiful piece

I love that you praise your choir teacher because choir is where I learned most everything I was taught about music. My teacher is gone now but oh, how I wish I had thanked her for the work she did in so many lives.

Can't wait to sing this in my middle school chorus
@erinesser66585 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure a middle school choir could sing such a high calibur piece. This is advanced for even my high school choir. Most middle school choirs sing 2-3 parts, and this is arranged in 4 part. The range for this piece is also very broad. Beautiful piece though.
@bonjovi27923 жыл бұрын
@@erinesser6658 Interesting. When I was in middle school we sang 4 parts the majority of the time.
@michaelcortez17163 ай бұрын
It really depends on the choir program. There is a 3 part arrangement that is accessible for middle school. It can be a great challenge to work on soft dynamics and having a smooth and lifted tone.

This is an exquisite performance of this most sublime music. I wonder if it would be possible to edit the audio to eliminate the coughing? So unfortunate to have had the performance of the choir marred by members of the audience.

all cunductors should have some kind of weapon just in case someone starts coughing.
@det1exec2 жыл бұрын
The "weapon" is his own hands: just shut the piece down midstream. Then turn around and stare solemnly in the general direction of the noise-maker.

Lyrics: Ave, ave verum corpus natum de Maria Virgine vere passum, immolatum in cruce pro homine, cujus latus perforatum unda fluxit et sanguine. Esto nobis praegustatum, in mortis examine, in mortis examine. (June 1791) Hail, true body born of the Virgin Mary, Who truly suffered, sacrificed on the Cross for man, Whose pierced side overflowed with water and blood, Be for us a foretaste In the test of death. In the test of death. (June 1791)

Almost every posting comments to the person coughing, taken distracting the beautiful singing. I wonder if that is the ''cougher purpose." Go back and listen to the beautiful singing and listien to nothing else. Ave Verum Corpus is a traditional Catholic hymn that is now shared with all Christian denominations which makes this more beautiful. The Concordia Choir is a God gifted group of young men and women. Nothing else should matter. "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."
