Your advice on what type to use, tools, etc. was so valuable. You should make more videos.

What type of anchor should I use in a concrete 2" cap that covers a cinder block and may not have the cinder block holes filled with concrete? In other words there is space uner the cap..thks..hc

Good video - are tapcons rated to be impact driven ? I've noticed bits have impact ratings. FWIW , there are specific anchors for blocks. They even have their own setting tool....getting to complicated..lol...I've seen concrete nails hold stuffs up for decades.....

Insist on a properly marked container, bearing that information.

I want to attach a sheet of plywood to my concrete basement wall. What's the best / easiest way to do this. I've got a drill and drive. (not an impact driver) Thanks!

Hi, i was trying to mount brackets for Ac condenser using 1/2" wedge anchor. I drilled holes using 1/2"drill bit. But the bolt and the threaded shaft kept on turning as i was trying to tighten. So loose i can pull the and out with plier. What did i do wrong? Thanks
@jigsolve8 ай бұрын
Gotta drill the hole one size smaller, like for a 1/ 4 ttapcon use a 3/16 bit

How do you figure out where the solid parts and hollow parts are when there’s drywall over it??
@MCConstructionTeacher Жыл бұрын
I would use a toggle bolt in that situation. Look up a google bolt and you will find they are fairly simple to use.

My contractor put my j bolts in very crooked. Is this a common thing to end up with crooked anchors?

Which anchor to choose for heavy duty hanging rail for clothes on brick wall?

I'd take "cobra" concrete anchor (not shown in the video).

I don't have an impact driver, only an impact drill with the hammer/drill function. What can I do to drive a hex head tapcon into concrete?
@tony_the_tinker2 жыл бұрын
The hammer drill will do just fine. In fact, Tapcon recommends using the hammer drill on their packaging and website. Some installers have reported problems with damaging the hole they are drilling into when using impact drivers.

6" thick cement deck, to anchor 10x12 feet storage shed what anchors i am using? Please respond. Thanks for a wonderful instructive video.

I use Tapcon if not going deep like 2x4. On 4x4 and even railroad ties I use rebars and sledgehammer, rebars will bend over on top and lock it in.

Your conduit is running uphill :-) ...oh and don’t forget about the dreaded drive pin anchors
@MCConstructionTeacher3 жыл бұрын
Haha you you always had that critical eagle eye just like my wife! That’s what happens when you are out of 1/2” straps improvising with 3/4” straps and running pipe on a pallet wall that is all different thickness. Those drive pins almost got an honorable mention but they just didn’t make the cut

Please don’t tell people you have to have a hammer drill for concrete bits! I have drilled many holes in concrete with a normal drill!
@MCConstructionTeacher Жыл бұрын
You can drill a hole in brick and block with a regular drill and masonry bit but it “walers” the hole out and fastener don’t tighten down correctly. Also, try drilling in high strength concrete, like in a parking garage, and tell me how that works out for you.

You definitely do have to have a hammer drill wear and tear on a normal drill gonna have to buy another drill vs one time buy of a hammer drill to last for years and make work easy but good luck lol

You can also hammer a nail with a plier….does it work? Sure.
