Concrete Patch V: How to Repair Damage Due to Slab Leakage Waterproofing Problem

Ordinary concrete mix cannot repair the concrete spalling on your ceiling. Aside from its lack of strength, an ordinary concrete mix can’t be used for overhead applications. Remember: the repair mortar should be stronger than the substrate.
Also, without non-sag properties or formworks, the repair mortar will just eventually drop on the ground. The tendency of ordinary concrete mixes to shrink also poses a big problem.
So, what should you do if your ceiling just suffered from concrete spalling?
First, you have to check the slab leakage or if there's a slab roof waterproofing problem.
Concrete Patch V is a cementitious, pre-packed repair mortar with shrinkage compensation properties. It can achieve up to 5800psi compressive strength at 28 days. It allows vertical and overhead application of a 40mm single-layer patch without using formworks.

do i need to apply confix hv in between layers? also, do i need to scarify the surface of an already applied layer in preparation for the next layer?

Hi. Thank you for your inquiry. Using a trowel, Concrete Patch V can be applied up to a thickness of 40mm. It is essential to build up to this thickness in consecutive layers of 10 - 15mm using a “wet on wet” technique to ensure maximum compaction and substrate adhesion. No need to apply Confix HV as long as Concrete Patch V is still wet.

Confic hv is too sticky to apply wirh ease with a brush Can I use a thinner to make it less so? What do you recommend as thinner if any?

...but how does it not fall from the ceiling? Does one slide a sheet of plywood from one side to the other filling the cavity sideways as you go?

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Concrete Patch V is a non-sag repair mortar for verttical and overhead application. CONCRETE PATCH V can be applied up to a vertical thickness of 40mm. However, it is essential to build up to this thickness in consecutive layers of 10 - 15mm using a “wet on wet” technique to ensure maximum compaction and substrate adhesion. Thickness is dependent on the substrate profile. Sagging will occur if the applied layer is too thick. If sagging occurs, the material should be completely removed and re-applied at a reduced thickness. The surface, however, should be scarified to provide a mechanical key for subsequent layers.

we are trying to patch the spalled ceiling by patching 10mm per layer of concrete patch v until we reach the desired thickness. will it help to use concrete grip in between 10mm layers to improve adhesion of one layer to another? also, will it help to mix patch v with concrete grip?

CONCRETE PATCH V is a cementitious pre-packed repair mortar with shrinkage compensation properties. It is supplied as a single component powder which only needs mixing with specific quantity of water to produce a non-shrink mortar allowing vertical application of 40mm thickness in a single layer without the use of formwork.

Hi. Thank you for your inquiry. If the spalled portion is more than 40mm, you have to let it cure first. After at least 8 hours, you can now apply another layer of Confix HV and Concrete Patch V.

Sir what if the depth ig the spalled portion exceeds 40mm? Is it still advisable to fill in that depth with patch v? Csn I use concrete grip to apply the layer that comes after the initiall 40mm patch v?

No. Spray CURE SIL as evenly as possible over the freshly laid concrete as soon as possible when the surface water has disappeared.
