This video will show you the concrete plant I use for most of my jobs. I will also show you how the concrete gets batched into the concrete truck and I'll tell you how to order your concrete. When you have a concrete pour to do, you can't expect to call the concrete batch plant the day you want to pour and get your concrete delivered that day. You have to give the dispatcher some advance notice. How much notice will vary, but I would call a week in advance to put in your concrete order. Most concrete plants have 10 to 15 concrete trucks on site, some even more, but their usually very busy. Especially first thing in the morning when most concrete floor guys want their concrete. If you've never seen how concrete is made and batched into the concrete truck, this video will show you how the cement, sand, aggregate, and water get loaded and mixed into the concrete truck.

Good stuff! Thanks for the tour. I watched a couple of your videos. Find you to be the man for stamped finished concrete. Watched one where it was much warmer than you would have hoped but you, your daughter and her friend pulled the mission off without a hitch. Those two girls were knowledgeable on what tool to grab when. All three of you ran like a Swiss watch; CONGRATULATIONS! - Now I'm subscribed as well. Thanks. Sonny (CT)

Do anyone know how to Adjust the boot on the batch plant to fit multiple trucks? At my job the boot is set to load rear discharge trucks that's ideally 12' tall, but I drive a front discharge which is 13+ feet tall. When I'm being loaded, the boot touches the inside of my hopper, which causes the material to spill everywhere.

Mike, I'm an HO scale model railroader and I'm doing research on building a big enough complex to where this plant would make stuff like Jersey barriers, culverts, pipes, railroad ties, bumpers seen in parking lots and other misc items. I've bought several tractors w/ pnumatic dry bulk trailers, front end loader. I'll have the aggregates come in by rail loaded in 100 ton capacity cars. Lime can also come in by rail. You pointed out that the plant shown had two 100 ton storage silos, these are also available. Is their any other trailers that I'll need to transport material? How many different piles will I need, lime, cement, aggregates, sand. Which one of these need to be kept dry? Thanks for sharing this and for your valuable time. 0q

@kjh 1 I moved companies and now I batch and dispatch. I will say contractors are the worst and how some think we're just sitting around waiting with trucks for their call like they're the only order of the day is amazing. There is an art to dispatching though and I find if you call them and let them know the situation when it happens they're a lot more understanding. A lot will lie.

With natural gas being so (relatively ) cheap and coal fired electric power plants coming under more and more regulations, many coal-fired electric plants are being shut down or only used during peak times, and fly ash only comes from them ( its a by-product ) , its going to be more and more in short supply .

@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 3 жыл бұрын
The batch man does add some water. The truck should leave the plant with about a 4 slump, then add water on site to what you want. We get inconsistent mixes also. Sometimes we have to add water 3 or 4 times to get it where we want it.

@ericwsmith7722
@ericwsmith7722 3 жыл бұрын
You never really know whos fault that is , Some times its the driver, they get lazy and don't dump out leftovers or wash out water, and some times its time pressure from the dispatcher to get loaded or they are selling left over concrete from the last job , some times its poor communication between the salesperson to the dispatcher to the batch man . Fiber is put in manually, driver should look at the ticket , but 90% of the time there is no need to , so they dont , and they cant get the ticket till its loaded in the truck anyhow .

Are they so behind ages in UK. Its just simple. Computer calculates the ration and amounts maschine add them mixer mixes and pump pumps to truck of you go !! The perfect. Mix. Im paying for 40nm but if to much water or to much water added on site makes it 30nm only!!

How is it possible to get a bad batch of concrete?
@boogie_nz
@boogie_nz Жыл бұрын
Once all the calculated water and additives are added, the batcher will look by eye to judge the slump - often trim water will added at the end - no more than 10L per m3. This is often where oversight happens (if you're a new bat he perhaps) and you can end up with a batch that's to wet - water = more workability (how most concrete layers want it but less strength. Hence why every 60 odd m3 from a plant should be tested.

@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 4 жыл бұрын
They usually batch the concrete at around a 3 inch slump unless you tell them otherwise. They add the fiber when they batch the concrete. 3/4" rock size is standard. If you order too much, they take it back and make blocks out of the extra and no you don't get a refund for it. If you order too little, you have to order more to finish the job. You may incur a small load charge for the small amount of extra you need.

Concrete suppliers and the concrete masons themselves get lazy. The problem is they go home and the last thing they want to do is their own concrete lol. They are stubborn because they don't want to pay someone else to do it because they can do it themselves. But they don't want to do it in the first place. They also don't enjoy paying for the actual concrete for their own pleasure.
